The present invention provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) sheet that achieves both low initial adhesiveness and strong adhesiveness upon use and has excellent transparency of the PSA layer. The PSA sheet provided herein includes a PSA layer having a haze value of 1.0% or less. The PSA sheet is configured so that a pressure-sensitive adhesive strength N1, after the PSA layer is attached to a stainless steel plate and left at 23 C. for 30 minutes, is 1.5 N/20 mm or less, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive strength N2, after the PSA layer is attached to a stainless steel plate and heated at 80 C. for 5 minutes, is 10.0 N/20 mm or more.

This invention relates to a process for reducing or eliminating organoleptic degradation in organoleptically sensitive foods packaged in flexible packaging, and packaged products thereof. This invention also relates to organoleptic flexible packaging made from polymeric films comprising oxidation-stable and non-migratory polysiloxane as slip additive. The oxidative-stability and non-migratory nature of the polysiloxane slip additive provides an organoleptic flexible packaging that is non-interactive with and inert to the organoleptically sensitive food packaged within, specifically: (1) coffee; (2) beer; (3) water; and (4) wine.

USE OF A SINGLE-COMPONENT LAMINATING ADHESIVE FOR COMPOSITE FILM LAMINATION

A description is given of the use of a one-component laminating adhesive for composite film lamination, and also of a method for composite film lamination. The laminating adhesive comprises an aqueous polymer dispersion preparable by radical emulsion polymerization of monomers comprising (a) at least 60 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of C1 to C20 alkyl acrylates, C1 to C20 alkyl methacrylates, vinyl esters of carboxylic acids comprising up to 20 carbon atoms, vinylaromatics having up to 20 carbon atoms, vinyl halides, vinyl ethers of alcohols comprising 1 to 10 carbon atoms, aliphatic hydrocarbons having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and one or two double bonds, and mixtures of these monomers, and (b) at least 0.1 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one monomer having at least one acid group, and (c) 0.1 to 5 wt %, based on the total amount of monomers, of at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound having at least one functional group selected from keto groups and aldehyde groups; where the aqueous polymer dispersion comprises at least one compound A which has at least two functional groups that are able to enter into a crosslinking reaction with keto groups or with aldehyde groups; where the molar ratio of the groups of the compound A that are reactive with keto groups or with aldehyde groups to the keto and aldehyde groups of the monomer (b) is from 1:10 to 2:1; and where, in the composite film lamination, at least two films are bonded to one another with the laminating adhesive so firmly that the peel strength is 2.5 N/15 mm or more or that the films bonded to one another are partable only with destruction of at least one of the films. The composite films can be used for the packing of foods.

LOW-EMULSIFIER AQUEOUS POLYMER DISPERSIONS FOR PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE FILMS

Described are aqueous polymer dispersions and a method for producing them. The polymer dispersions comprise polymer particles having an average particle diameter of greater than 200 nm, monomodal particle size distribution, and uniform glass transition temperature, and are prepared by radical emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising ethylenically unsaturated, radically polymerizable monomers, using a polymer seed, less than 0.8 part by weight of emulsifier, and without protective colloids. The monomer mixture consists of a) at least 60 wt % of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of C1 to C20 alkyl acrylates, C1 to C20 alkyl methacrylates, vinyl esters of carboxylic acids containing up to 20 carbons, vinylaromatics having up to 20 carbons, ethylenically ensaturated nitriles, vinyl halides, vinyl ethers of alcohols containing 1 to 10 carbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons having 2 to 8 carbons and one or two double bonds, and mixtures of these monomers, b) at least 0.1 wt % of at least one monomer having at least one acid group; c) optionally further monomers, the acid groups of the monomers b) being wholly or partly neutralized during the emulsion polymerization. The aqueous polymer dispersions can be used as adhesives, more particularly for the production of composite films.
