The cutter unit moves alongside of the continuous body from a certain cutting start position to cut the continuous body. The cutter drive unit returns the cutter unit that has cut the continuous body, to the cutting start position.

The disclosure provides improved vent filters useful in single-use in-line transfusion systems. In a first aspect, the disclosure provides filter comprising (i) a layer comprising a fluoropolymer membrane and (ii) a layer comprising at least two air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers, the air-permeable thermoplastic polymeric layers comprised of a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer, wherein the first polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the fluoropolymer membrane, possesses a melting point of about 95° C. to about 180° C., and wherein the second polymeric layer is in bonded contact with the first polymeric layer and has a melting point of about 220° C. to about 265° C. These filters exhibit excellent bonding strength between the various layers while preserving a considerable amount of the original fluoropolymer membrane air flux.

The multilayer substrate material includes protector, adhesive, film and backcoat layers. The adhesive layer is applied to the protector layer and formed of a number of discrete and non-continuous regions. The film layer is applied to the adhesive layer. The number of discrete and non-continuous regions include an interface between the protector layer and the film layer such that the protector layer touches the film layer at the interface. The backcoat layer is applied to the film layer and includes a non-acrylic binder and a flame retardant material. The number of discrete and non-continuous regions form a number of non-adhesive regions therebetween configured to not resist flexing of the protector, film and backcoat layers.

A method for the production of an elastic laminate, with the following steps in a production line: coextrudeing a first web of elastic film with at least three layers, with at least two different polymer materials, to feed contemporaneously said coextruded first elastic film web and two second nonwoven webs to a thermal, binding calender, wherein the first elastic film web is arranged between said two second nonwoven webs when entering the calender; wherein said first elastic film web, during the movement from the coextrusion step to the thermal binding step, passes from a melted state, to a solidified and cold state when entering the calender, to join, through spot welding in said calender, said second nonwoven webs with respective opposite outer layers of said first elastic film web, thus producing an intermediate web, to stretch mechanically said intermediate web according to a direction transverse to the same web.
