CONCAVE ANGULATED POSITIONING DEVICE
20210077855 · 2021-03-18 ·

An improved positioning device (the DEVICE) comprises a new and unique concave angulated device for at least one of, but not limited to, stretching, supporting, bracing, rehabilitating, positioning, massaging, kneading, scratching, or exercising a body of a user. The DEVICE's new concave angulated and more user friendly surface addresses the need for a more anatomically responsive body positioning DEVICE for achieving improved results relative to, among other things, the above uses. This DEVICE includes multiple embodiments, which also may comprise various possible configurations, that enable the DEVICE to also function as a fulcrum or lever and/or be capable of uniquely dispersing a load during the interaction between the user and the DEVICE.

Methods and apparatuses for treating gland dysfunction

A method of treating dry eye includes delivering light energy from outside an eyelid toward the eyelid, and maintaining the delivery of the light energy toward the eyelid for a period of time to soften an obstruction of at least one meibomian gland. The light energy may be delivered specifically to the obstruction in the at least one meibomian gland without physically contacting the at least one meibomian gland, or the light energy delivered toward the eyelid may conductively apply heat to the meibomian gland to melt the obstruction. A corresponding apparatus includes a light energy source positionable outside an eyelid and configured to deliver the light energy from outside an eyelid toward the eyelid, and a controller configured to control the light energy source to maintain the delivery of the light energy toward the eyelid for a period of time to soften the obstruction.

Metal-assisted and microwave-accelerated decrystallization

In this study, we demonstrated a unique application of our Metal-Assisted and Microwave-Accelerated Decrystallization (MAMAD) technique for the de-crystallization of uric acid crystals, which causes gout in humans when monosodium urate crystals accumulate in the synovial fluid found in the joints of bones. Given the shortcomings of the existing treatments for gout, we investigated whether the MAMAD technique can offer an alternative solution to the treatment of gout. Our technique is based on the use of metal nanoparticles (i.e., gold colloids) with low microwave heating to accelerate the de-crystallization process. In this regard, we employed a two-step process; (i) crystallization of uric acid on glass slides, which act as a solid platform to mimic a bone, (ii) de-crystallization of uric acid crystals on glass slides with the addition of gold colloids and low power microwave heating, which act as nano-bullets when microwave heated in a solution. We observed that the size and number of the uric acid crystals were reduced by >60% within 10 minutes of low power microwave heating. In addition, the use of gold colloids without microwave heating (i.e. control experiment) did not result in the de-crystallization of the uric acid crystals, which proves the utility of our MAMAD technique in the de-crystallization of uric acid.

System and method for preventing or treating Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases

A process that provides protective therapy for biological tissues or fluids includes applying a pulsed energy source to a target tissue or a target fluid having a chronic progressive disease or a risk of having a chronic progressive disease to therapeutically or prophylactically treat the target tissue or target fluid. A pulsed energy source having selected energy parameters may be applied to a brain of an individual who has Alzheimer's or other neurodegenerative disease or is at risk of developing such a neurodegenerative disease so as to prevent or treat the neurodegenerative disease.

The Method for the treatment of patients with viral infections such as COV-2-BARS or others using Microwave Resonant Absorption (MRA) effect in viruses and based on Structure Resonant Energy Transfer (SRET) that causes Confined Acoustic Vibrations (CAV) in infectious viruses and, as a result, their destruction. Devices using coupling of multi-frequency microwave energy to the patient organs infected with virus with Near Field Focused (NFF) antenna arrays, implemented to irradiate infected organs such as lungs, larynx, and nasofarinx by exciting high amplitude acoustic vibrations to fracture the outer protein shell (capsid) of the virus and completely or, at least, partially inactivate it.

Process utilizing pulsed energy to heat treat biological tissue

A process for heat treating biological tissue includes repeatedly applying a pulsed energy to a target tissue over a period of time so as to controllably raise a temperature of the target tissue to create a therapeutic effect to the target tissue without destroying or permanently damaging the target tissue. After the first treatment is concluded the application of the pulsed energy to the target tissue is halted for an interval of time. Within a single treatment session a second treatment is performed on the target tissue after the interval of time by repeatedly reapplying the pulsed energy to the target tissue so as to controllably raise the temperature of the target tissue to therapeutically treat the target tissue without destroying or permanently damaging the target tissue.
