PORTABLE APPARATUS FOR DECONTAMINATION OF A BREAST
A portable device for the decontamination of a breast. The aim of the device is to reduce the risk of mastitis, even when the patient has a medicament incompatibility. For this purpose, the invention includes a decontamination unit which decontaminates the breast at least by means of a physical method.
Treatment of prostate cancer using enhanced energy application (EEA) in high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) procedures
HIFU treatment of localized prostate cancer includes identifying the cancer locations in a patient's prostate and visually segmenting the patient's prostate into areas for analysis and treatment. The section including the most aggressive cancer is determined to be the primary area and subjected to a first full HIFU treatment for a period intended to ablate the cancer. HIFU treatment is then stopped on the primary area, allowing it to rest, while simultaneously subjecting the next contiguous area of the prostate to HIFU treatment to ablate any additional areas of suspected cancer. HIFU treatment is then stopped in the contiguous area. The primary area is then subjected to a second full HIFU treatment for a period sufficient to ensure the complete ablation of the cancerous tumor. Repeating alternating full HIFU treatment on subsequent contiguous areas of the prostate ensures the complete ablation of any cancerous tumors in the prostate.
Apparatus and method for treating kidneys
A method and/or system are provided for improving kidney function and/or increasing Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) of the renal system, by applying acoustic and/or ultrasonic energy to one or more of the kidneys. The method suggests either focused or non-focused (or combined) energy delivery, optionally in a noninvasive approach, which could also be implemented invasively and/or by implantable device. Potential applications of this technique, include, but are not restricted to, treatment of renal disorders such as CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and/or AKI (Acute Kidney Injury), short term or long term intervention in kidney function for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, modifying urine output in heart failure, modulating blood volume and/or pressure, and modulating clearance of compounds in the blood are typically difficult to extract from the kidneys, such as iodine, other imaging contrast media, and similar compounds.

NEUROMODULATION TECHNIQUES
The subject matter of the present disclosure generally relates to techniques for following a treatment protocol having one or more treatment parameters to cause a targeted physiological outcome at a distal site, assessing an expression level of a gene in a region of interest after completing the treatment protocol, and modifying the one or more treatment parameters based on the expression level of the gene. The treatment protocol may include one or more ultrasound energy treatments to the region of interest.
Methods and systems for measuring tissue impedance and monitoring PVD treatment using neuro-implants with improved ultrasound powering
Methods and systems for measuring tissue impedance and monitoring PVD treatment using neuro-implants with improved wireless powering are disclosed. In some embodiments, an implanted device including a wireless energy receiver, a demodulation circuit, and electrodes may be configured to received modulated energy from an energy transmitter. The implanted device may convert the energy to an electrical voltage to be applied to tissue to adjust the tissue's impedance. The tissue impedance may be measured with a computing system by receiving and processing an energy signal emitted/produced in response to the electrical voltage applied by the implanted device. In some embodiments, improved microwave powering schemes may be utilized to power the implanted device. In some embodiments, improved ultrasound powering schemes may be utilized to power the implanted device. For example, energy transfer efficiency from different transmitters may be evaluated to select for energy transmission the transmitter that yields optimal energy transfer efficiency.
Medical device with CMUT array and solid state cooling, and associated methods and systems
A medical device includes a capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) array configured to emit ultrasound to target tissue, and at least one thermoelectric cooler mechanically coupled with the CMUT array and configured to cool non-target tissue heated by the ultrasound. The medical device may be implemented in a catheter together with a solid thermal conductor coupled to the thermoelectric cooler and extending along the catheter, to conduct heat away from the thermoelectric cooler. A catheter or catheter sleeve includes a tubular wall for insertion into a body channel, and at least one thermoelectric cooler coupled to the tubular wall for cooling the body channel wall. A catheter sleeve includes tubular casing for insertion into a body channel and capable of encasing a catheter, and at least one sensor coupled to the tubular casing for sensing one or more properties of the body channel wall, such as temperature and pressure.
Extracorporeal focused ultrasound treatment device for pelvic disease
The present disclosure provides an extracorporeal focused ultrasound treatment device for a pelvic disease. The treatment device includes an ultrasonic transducer and a treatment couch. Sound emitting surface of the ultrasonic transducer is a spherical surface having a first notch, a second notch and a third notch, the first notch and the second notch are respectively positioned at two intersections of the spherical surface and a diameter perpendicular to the main great circle, and the third notch connects the first notch with the second notch; a cross-section of the sound emitting surface parallel to the main great circle is in a shape of an arc; and an ultrasonic wave generated by the sound generation unit is focused at a center of the sphere corresponding to the sound emitting surface. The treatment couch is configured for a human body to lie in a lithotomy position.
