Simulation-based drug treatment planning
Various approaches for computationally generating a protocol for treatment of one or more target BBB regions within a tissue region of interest using a source of focused ultrasound include specifying (i) settings of sonication parameters for applying one or more sequence of sonications to the target BBB region using the source of focused ultrasound and (ii) a characteristic of microbubbles selected to be administered into the target BBB region; electronically simulating treatment in accordance with the protocol at least in part by computationally executing the sequence(s) of sonications and computationally administering the microbubbles having the characteristic; and computationally predicting a tissue disruption effect of the target BBB region resulting from the treatment.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMMINUTION OF BIOMINERALIZATIONS USING MICROBUBBLES
A system and method for ultrasound treatment is presented. The system and method alternatingly provide microbubbles in a target region containing a biomineralization, then insonate the microbubbles using an external ultrasound source. The microbubbles cavitate in the target region, destructively affecting the biomineralization and potentially breaking it or reducing its mass over time as a result of the cavitation action. Spatial orientation or alignment of the external ultrasound source may be achieved for best results using acoustic signatures and spectral representations of the same.
LOW ENERGY IMMUNE PRIMING FOR TREATING CANCER AND METASTASIS
Disclosed herein are the systems, devices and methods for treating cancer and metastasis using low energy immune priming. The low energy immune priming includes administering immunopriming energy. The low energy immune priming can be combined with an adjunct therapy.
Rejuvenating skin by heating tissue for cosmetic treatment of the face and body
Systems and methods for treating skin and subcutaneous tissue with energy such as ultrasound energy are disclosed. In various embodiments, ultrasound energy is applied at a region of interest to affect tissue by cutting, ablating, micro-ablating, coagulating, or otherwise affecting the subcutaneous tissue to conduct numerous procedures that are traditionally done invasively in a non-invasive manner. Lifting sagging tissue on a face, neck, and/or body are described. Treatment with heat is provided in several embodiments.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING BRAIN HEALTH
In some aspects, a sensor includes an optical transmitter that transmits to a brain of a person infrared radiation, and an acoustic receiver that detects an ultrasound signal generated in the brain in response to the infrared radiation. A processor determines oxygen saturation of the brain based on the detected ultrasound signal. The sensor may be included in a cap worn by the person, implanted under the skin of the person, or inserted through the nasal canal of the person.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING BRAIN HEALTH
In some aspects, a closed-loop system for monitoring and/or treating brain function of a person includes a CMUT device that transmits ultrasound radiation to the brain of the person and receives and detects an ultrasound signal generated in the brain, and a processor that assesses the received ultrasound signal to determine brain function and controls further transmission of ultrasound radiation from the CMUT device based on the determined brain function.
Methods of treating tumors with drugs
Methods of treating tumors by administering compounds to a patient are provided. Compounds such as drugs, may be administered to the patient orally, by injection, intravenously, or topically, which then accumulate preferentially as compounds such as protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) in tumor cells. After such accumulation, compounds such as PpIX are then activated in various aspects to treat tumors cells, thereby treating cancer. Cancers such as glioblastoma may be treated.
TRANSDUCER ASSEMBLY FOR GENERATING FOCUSED ULTRASOUND
Systems and devices are provided for generating focused ultrasound pulses based on a transducer assembly having a piezoelectric layer coupled to an acoustic lens. In some example embodiments, the piezoelectric layer is a composite piezoelectric material having an acoustic impedance configured to match the acoustic impedance of the acoustic lens. The acoustic lens may be formed from aluminum, or an alloy thereof, and may have a distal surface having a non-spherical profile for producing a focal region that is smaller than an equivalent spherical lens. The acoustic lens may have an f-number less than unity. In some embodiments, the acoustic lens is coated with a polymer acoustic impedance matching layer that is compatible with deposition via chemical vapor deposition, such as a p-xylylene based polymer. In some embodiments, the acoustic lens is formed from aluminum or an alloy thereof, and the polymer acoustic impedance matching layer is a Parylene layer.
THERAPEUTIC ULTRASONIC DEVICE AND THE USE THEREOF
The present invention discloses an therapeutic ultrasonic device consisting of at least one arc ultrasonic transducer that can be assembled. The arc ultrasonic transducer comprises a protruding part, a concave part and a plurality of piezoelectric vibrating parts. The protruding part and the concave part are disposed at two ends of the arc ultrasonic transducer respectively, and the piezoelectric vibrating parts are disposed at the inner arc face of the arc ultrasonic transducer. Various numbers of arc ultrasonic transducers can be used in assembled structure or non-assembled structure according to different body size and focal zones of various target tissue. Thus the therapeutic ultrasonic device of the present invention is widely used in treatment of various indications.
Therapeutic ultrasound apparatus and method
An apparatus and as method for generating ultrasound. The apparatus comprises: a signal generator arranged to generate a driving signal; and an ultrasound transducer arranged to transmit an ultrasound beam in response to the driving signal received from the signal generator. The signal generator is arranged to combine a carrier wave and a modulating wave having a lower frequency than the carrier wave to generate an amplitude modulated driving signal. The ultrasound beam is suitable for inducing cavitation in a human or animal body tissue.
