A system for performing substrateless and/or local donor Laser Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT), comprising a reservoir (9) comprising at least one opening and an energy source configured to deliver energy to a donor material within said reservoir, characterized by at least one of: said reservoir is embedded into a medical device; said reservoir is in fluid connection with a medical device; said reservoir is incorporated into a medical device; said reservoir contains at least one biologically active substance; and, said reservoir is in fluid connection with at least one source of at least one biologically active substance. This system enables deposition of material by LIFT without any need for a donor substrate. Methods of substrateless and local donor LIFT, in particular for medical and biological applications, are also disclosed.

LABEL PRINTER

A label printer is configured to sequentially issue a reserved number of printed labels on which information on a reserved commodity is printed, and the label printer includes: a designation means configured to designate a commodity; an input means configured to input the number of printed labels to be issued on which information on the commodity designated by the designation means is printed; and a registration means configured to receive, while the printed labels are issued, designation of the commodity by the designation means and input of the number of printed labels to be issued by the input means, and register a reservation.

Method for printing on a media object in a flatbed printing system
09862218 · 2018-01-09 · ·

The invention relates to a method for printing on a media object supported by a flat bed of a printer, the printer comprising a print head and a camera above the flat bed, the method comprising the steps of detecting a media object on the flat bed surface of the printer by means of a digital camera image captured by the camera, deriving camera coordinates of the media object in the digital camera image, applying a direct transformation from the camera coordinates into print head coordinates of the media object without using coordinates of the flat bed surface, and printing a digital target image on the media object by ejecting recording material on the media object from the print head, the print head controlled according to the print head coordinates appropriate for the media object.

A printing system includes a printer and a terminal capable of wirelessly communicating with each other. The printer include a portable printer main body, a movement detection unit that detects a movement of the printer main body, and a first processor configured to transmit a first control signal to the terminal in a case where a first movement is detected by the movement detection unit, and transmit a second control signal to the terminal in a case where a second movement is detected by the movement detection unit. The terminal includes a display unit, a second processor configured to receive the control signals from the printer; and display a first operation screen on the display unit in a case where the first control signal is received, and display a second operation screen on the display unit in a case where the second control signal is received.

Library system with integrated label printer

A library system includes a plurality of drive modules for reading and writing storage media, typically magnetic tapes. The library system includes: (i) a picker for loading and unloading cartridges into, and out of, the drive modules; and/or (ii) a label printing drive integrated into the library system. The label printing drive receives a cartridge in the same way any of the drive modules receives a cartridge. The picker loads the cartridge in an identical way as the other drive modules and the label printing drive.

Media processing device and method of controlling a media processing device

Maintenance requirements are reduced by using only a subset of the functions of a media processing device having plural function units for processing processed media. When a control unit of the media processing device receives a command from a host computer to disable a function of an inkjet printer unit disposed to a conveyance path for the processed media or to disable a function of a contact image sensor unit disposed to the conveyance path, a function-disabled mode is entered that disables the specified function. While in the function-disabled mode, detected operating errors related to the disabled function are not reported to the host computer.

Multifunction Device

A multifunction device includes a scanner and a printer disposed below the scanner. The scanner includes a support surface configured to support a document, and a scanning unit configured to scan the document supported by the support surface. The scanning unit includes a sensor including a plurality of reading elements arranged in a main scanning direction, and a moving member holding the sensor and configured to move in a sub-scanning direction. The scanner is connected to the printer pivotably, about a first axis extending in a first direction, between a first position at which the scanner conceals an upper portion of the printer, and a second position at which the scanner exposes the upper portion of the printer. In response to the moving member moving in the sub-scanning direction, a responsive mechanism shifts the lock mechanism between an operative state in which the lock mechanism restricts pivoting of the scanner relative to the printer, and an inoperative state in which the lock mechanism permits pivoting of the scanner relative to the printer.
