METHOD OF DETECTING FEEDING STATUS AND PAPER WIDTH
A method of detecting feeding status and width of paper is disclosed in this present invention, steps of the method include: step a, using at least one infrared light transmitter to transmit infrared light signals; step b, using a light-gathering element to gather together the infrared light signals transmitted by the infrared light transmitter; step c, using a light receiver to receive the infrared light signals gathered together by the light-gathering element, when paper is fed forward, the paper will be located between the infrared light transmitter and the light-gathering element, and will cover a part of the light-gathering element so as to cut off a part of the infrared light signals, how many infrared light signals the light receiver received will be changed, a feeding status and a width of the paper is determined according to how many infrared light signals the light receiver received.

RECORDING APPARATUS
A recording apparatus includes: a container; a conveying mechanism configured to convey a recording medium contained in the container; a recording head configured to record an image on the recording medium that has been conveyed through a conveying path by the conveying mechanism; a moving mechanism including a carriage and configured to move the carriage reciprocatingly together with the recording head; a first sensor installed in the carriage and configured to detect the recording medium; a second sensor configured to detect a change of a state of the container; a storage unit configured to store width information of the recording medium that is conveyed by the conveying mechanism; and a controller configured to control the conveying mechanism, the moving mechanism, and the recording head.
Paper management system, paper management method, and print control apparatus
A paper management system setting a paper information piece of paper stored in a sheet feeding unit in an image forming apparatus from a list of paper information pieces registers the paper information pieces with a favorite group, displays a list of the paper information pieces for each favorite group, and enables the list of the paper information pieces to be associated with a paper feed unit through the screen displaying the list.
PRINT DATA GENERATION DEVICE, METHOD FOR GENERATING PRINT DATA, PROGRAM, AND PRINTING APPARATUS
A print data generation device includes a control unit that generates print data, and the control unit calculates a label length for a label to be printed on the basis of the first print data, acquires a maximum label length, generates first print data in a case in which a calculated label length, which is a label length that is calculated, does not exceed the maximum label length, and generates second print data, the label length of which is equivalent to the maximum label length, in a case in which the calculated label length exceeds the maximum label length.
PRINTER, PRINTING SYSTEM, METHOD OF PRINTING CONTROL, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
A printer includes a processor and a thermal head having a plurality of heating elements to print an image having a plurality of print lines on a printing medium on the basis of printing data, wherein in an initial control period, for any printing data, the processor causes the thermal head to perform a division printing for each of the print lines that are to be printed in the control period, the division printing being such that for each print line to be printed, the plurality of heating elements are divided into a plurality of subgroups and the respective subgroups of the heating elements are activated in a time-divided manner, and wherein in a normal period after the control period, the processor causes the thermal head performs a non-division printing for at least some of the print lines that are to be printed in the normal period.
PAPER TYPE IDENTIFICATION APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A paper type identification apparatus includes a passage configured to allow a sheet to be manually inserted thereinto, a reading sensor configured to read a surface of the sheet inserted into the passage and a controller configured to output a notification after reading a first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor. The notification is a notification to urge a user to read a second surface opposite to the first surface of the sheet by the reading sensor, and determine a type of the sheet based on a reading result of the first surface by the reading sensor and a reading result of the second surface by the reading sensor.
SHEET SUPPLYING APPARATUS AND PRINTING APPARATUS
It is an object of the present invention to specify a type of sheet to be used using a sensor that detects a sheet separated from a roll at the time of automatic sheet feeding. A sheet supplying apparatus according to the present invention includes a driving unit configured to cause a roll including a wound consecutive sheet to rotate in a first direction for feeding the sheet or a second direction opposite to the first direction, a sensor that detects the sheet separated from an outer circumferential surface of the roll, wherein, in a case in which the sensor detects a leading end portion of the sheet while the roll is being rotated in the second direction, the driving unit changes a rotation direction of the roll from the second direction to the first direction and feeds the sheet, and wherein the sheet supplying apparatus further includes a specifying unit configured to specify a type of the sheet on the basis of an output of the sensor while the roll is being rotated in the second direction.
Printing device and control method of a printing device
A printing device has a print unit that prints on roll paper; a storage compartment that holds roll paper; a paper guide that limits the position of the roll paper in the storage compartment; a paper guide sensor that outputs different detection values according to the status of the paper guide; a memory unit that stores the paper width of the roll paper; and a control unit that causes the print unit to print based on the paper width stored by the memory unit, detects the status of the paper guide based on the detection value of the paper guide sensor when triggered by a specific event, changes the paper width setting to a value indicating 58 mm if the paper guide is installed, and to a value indicating 80 mm if the paper guide is not installed.
