An image forming apparatus includes a head unit, a conveyance unit, a lifting and lowering mechanism, a drive source and a transmission mechanism. The head unit is provided with an inkjet head having a discharge opening through which an ink is discharged. The conveyance unit is supported in an upwardly and downwardly movable manner in directions close to and apart from the head unit from a lower side. The lifting and lowering mechanism is configured to lift and lower the conveyance unit. The drive source is configured to drive the lifting and lowering mechanism. The transmission mechanism is configured to transmit driving force from the drive source to the lifting and lowering mechanism. The transmission mechanism includes a warm gear, a warm wheel meshed with the warm gear and a resistance applying member configured to apply resistance to rotation of the warm gear.

One end of the wire is fixed to the casing and the other end of the wire is fixed to the winding pulley. A rack is provided in the casing along an upper-and-lower direction. A pinion is provided in the moving unit and configured to be engaged with the rack. The winding pulley is rotated to wind and unwind the wire via the fixed pulley and the movable pulley, and the moving unit is lifted and lowered while the pinion being engaged with the rack.

VELOCITY AND TORQUE BASED MEDIA MOTOR CONTROL

In some examples, velocity and torque based media motor control may include ascertaining a velocity and torque for a feed roller motor associated with a feed roller, and ascertaining a velocity and torque for a drive roller motor associated with a drive roller that is to receive media from the feed roller. Further, velocity and torque based media motor control may include determining whether the torque for the drive roller motor is greater than a torque target. In response to a determination that the torque for the drive roller motor is greater than the torque target, the torque for the drive roller motor may be reduced to the torque target, and the torque for the drive roller motor may be maintained at the torque target.

VELOCITY AND TORQUE BASED MEDIA MOTOR CONTROL

In some examples, velocity and torque based media motor control may include ascertaining a velocity and torque for a feed roller motor associated with a feed roller, and ascertaining a velocity and torque for a drive roller motor associated with a drive roller that is to receive media from the feed roller. Further, velocity and torque based media motor control may include determining whether the torque for the drive roller motor is greater than a torque target. In response to a determination that the torque for the drive roller motor is greater than the torque target, the torque for the drive roller motor may be reduced to the torque target, and the torque for the drive roller motor may be maintained at the torque target.

The modular print drive assembly is structured for insertion and removal from a printer, the modular print drive assembly and includes a print drive housing defining a plurality of printer mount fasteners, a printhead coupled to and supported by the print drive housing, a platen latch assembly coupled to and supported by the print drive housing. The platen latch assembly is structured to removably receive a platen in position to define a nip between the platen and the printhead The modular print drive also includes a platen drive motor coupled to and supported by the print housing, wherein the platen drive motor is supported by the print housing in position to drive the platen upon receipt within the platen latch assembly.
