PRINTING APPARATUS

Examples of the present disclosure relate generally to a printing apparatus and, more particularly, to apparatuses, systems, and methods for printing utilizing laser print head and reactive media.

WEB MEDIUM ORIENTATION DETECTION

In a method for high speed printing of web-based media, a medium is pulled along a media transport path to a pulling transport mechanism. The orientation of the medium with respect to the media transport path is sensed and this orientation is compared to a reference orientation to detect an orientation error. If an orientation error is detected, one or more of the following steps is performed: adjusting a print job for an image to be printed on the web medium; adjusting the transport speed; emitting a communication signal; and stopping the pulling transport mechanism and the image forming unit. It is the insight of the inventor that productivity may be increased by allowing a “tight winding” printing system to start printing at relatively high speed and reduce this speed only when significantly large deviations in the orientation of the web are detected.

The tape cassette includes a housing, a tape spool, a tape, a first guide, a second guide, and a plurality of pins. The housing has an outlet. The tape spool is held inside the housing. The tape is wound around the tape spool. The first guide is configured to guide the tape toward a detection position where tape information of the tape is detected by a sensor of a printer. The second guide is configured to guide the tape that has been conveyed through the detection position toward the outlet. The plurality of pins is disposed at positions away from a straight line connecting the tape spool with the first guide. The pins are configured to cause a conveyance path of the tape from the tape spool to the first guide to be curved, and guide the tape to the first guide along the conveyance path.

Roll Paper Printer

A roll paper printer includes an accommodation section configured to accommodate roll paper wound such that one surface of recording paper faces outward, a transport roller configured to pull the recording paper from the roll paper and transport the paper in a transport direction, a guide positioned upstream of the transport roller in the transport direction and configured to come into contact with the other surface of the recording paper, and a protrusion positioned upstream of the transport roller in the transport direction and configured to come into contact with the one surface of the recording paper, the protrusion being configured to move toward the guide.

Print medium position detection

The present subject matter discloses detection of positions of print medium for driving the print medium for printing in a printing system, in an example implementation, a motor is operated for driving the print medium, at a first specific speed, along a media-path in the printing system. After a first specific number of rotations of the motor, it is detected, based on identification of a torque change event, that the print medium at a de-skew position in the media-path. At the de-skew position a leading edge of the print medium is at a de-skew unit of the printing system and the torque change event is indicative of a deviation in a current operating torque of the motor from a standard operating torque of the motor.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPLEMENTING SELECTABLE INPUT MEDIA ROUTING OF MULTIPLE INPUT MEDIA FORMS FROM MULTIPLE AXES IN IMAGE FORMING DEVICES
20170313537 · 2017-11-02 ·

Systems and methods are provided for configuring media transport flow paths for directing input image receiving media, including of different types, in sheet or roll form from multiple axes to provide wider latitude in selecting particular input image receiving media and combinations of input image receiving media to support execution of a print job. The disclosed schemes are directed at using one or more stationary turn bars disposed generally at 45° in an input media transport path approaching a marking module in an image forming system to allow for sheets or sheeted materials to be positioned at 90° to the in-line input image receiving media transport path directed toward the marking module thus allowing for flexibility in selection among various sources of stacked, pallet and rolled media.

A printing apparatus and a conveying apparatus are provided. The printing apparatus is provided with a main body unit including a printing unit configured to print on a medium and legs supporting the printing unit. The printing apparatus includes a pair of holding members configured to hold both ends, in an axial direction, of a roll of media at a position vertically above a floor surface on which the main body unit is placed. The roll of media is formed by winding the medium. A drive unit is configured to rotate the roll of media held by the holding members. A guide member connected to the main body unit is configured to support the holding members moveably in a width direction X. The guide member is disposed at a position horizontally closer to the main body unit than the holding members.

A printer can suppress paper lifting away from the platen surface even when conveying strong paper (regardless of paper strength) (a printer that can suppress paper uplift from the platen and is not easily affected by the type of paper). A printer 40 in which the platen surface 42a is on the inkjet head 21 side of a plane C through position A where paper 11 is held by a conveyance roller 36, and position B where the paper is held by a discharge roller, has: on the printhead 21 side of the plane C between the platen 42 and conveyance roller 36, at least one entry angle control unit 44 that contacts the paper 11 conveyed toward the platen surface 42a, and controls the entry angle of the paper 11 to the platen surface 42a; and on the printhead 21 side of the plane C between the platen 42 and the discharge roller 37, at least one exit angle control unit 46 that contacts the paper 11 conveyed in the direction away from the platen surface 42a, and controls the exit angle of the paper 11 from the platen surface 42a.

MEANDERING CORRECTION APPARATUS, BASE MATERIAL PROCESSING APPARATUS AND MEANDERING CORRECTION METHOD
20170275117 · 2017-09-28 ·

A meandering correction apparatus includes a transport mechanism, an orientation measurement part, a Young's modulus calculation part, a meandering prediction part and a meandering correction part. The transport mechanism transports an elongated strip-shaped base material in a longitudinal direction thereof along a transport path. The orientation measurement part measures fiber orientations of the base material in respective measurement regions on the transport path, the measurement regions being different in widthwise position from each other. The Young's modulus calculation part calculates Young's moduli of the base material for the respective measurement regions, based on the fiber orientations. The meandering prediction part predicts subsequent meandering of the base material, based on the Young's moduli, to output meandering prediction information. The meandering correction part corrects the widthwise position of the base material, based on the meandering prediction information. The meandering correction is made based on the fiber orientations of the base material. Thus, the widthwise position of the base material is corrected without depending on only edge sensors.
