A printing apparatus includes: a conveyor configured to convey a web print medium with holes arranged at a predetermined pitch in a conveyance direction; a printer configured to perform printing on the web print medium conveyed by the conveyor; a detector configured to detect the holes; and a controller. The controller is configured to drive the printer to start printing on the web print medium based on a timing at which a count value of the holes detected by the detector from start of conveyance of the web print medium by the conveyor reaches a setting value of a number of the holes located from the detector to a print start reference position on the web print medium at the start of conveyance of the web print medium by the conveyor.

WEB CONVEYING DEVICE

A controller, upon a web roll being set on a web roll support shaft: drives a brake to apply a braking force of a first value to the web roll support shaft, the first value being a value at which the web roll does not rotate when a predetermined tension is applied to a web, and drives a conveyance motor to generate a drive force for the predetermined tension; drives the brake with the drive force generated to gradually reduce the braking force from the first value while determining whether rotation of a conveyance roller starts; and upon determining that the rotation of the conveyance roller starts, determines a second value of the braking force as an initial value of the braking force in conveyance of the web for printing, the second value being a value at which the rotation of the conveyance roller starts.

Recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a belt conveyor unit that can be switched between a first state in which at least a portion of the belt outer surface of a conveyor belt is located at a recording position at which a line head performs recording and a second state in which the belt outer surface is located more distant than the recording position from the line head. The recording apparatus also includes a wiping device that is in contact with the belt outer surface and wipes the belt outer surface. The belt conveyor unit is switched from the second state to the first state after carrying out of a preliminary operation in which the conveyor belt is moved over a predetermined distance in a reverse direction opposite to a normal direction in which the conveyor belt transports a sheet.

RECORDING APPARATUS

Disclosed is a recording apparatus for conveying a recording sheet such as a long sheet with high precision without decreasing productivity even if a back tension occurs during conveyance of the recording sheet. The recording apparatus (100) sets a first acceleration period in which the conveying speed is increased up to a first predetermined speed before a leading end of the roll paper (101) reaches a detecting position of the leading end detecting sensor (129) with the roll paper (101) being nipped by the upstream side nip roller (125) and the conveying belt (121). Further, the recording apparatus (100) sets a first constant speed period in which the conveying speed is kept constant at the first predetermined speed before the leading end of the roll paper (101) reaches the detecting position until the leading end of the roll paper (101) is nipped by the downstream side nip roller (126) and the conveying belt (121). Furthermore, the recording apparatus (100) sets a second acceleration period in which the conveying speed is increased up to a second predetermined speed before the recording by the recording head (130) is started after the leading end of the roll paper (101) is nipped by the downstream side nip roller (126) and the conveying belt (121).

Magnetic ink reader and printer having the same

A magnetic ink reader includes a conveyance mechanism for a sheet, a magnetizing mechanism configured to magnetize magnetic ink on the sheet and including a magnet having a first side of a first magnetic polarity, that is arranged to face a first surface of the sheet, and a yoke that is formed of a soft magnetic material and includes a base portion attached directly to a second side of the magnet, and an extension portion extending from the base portion such that an end surface of the extension portion faces a second surface of the sheet, and a magnetic detection head along the conveyance path and configured to detect magnetism of the magnetized magnetic ink on the sheet.
