In a printing apparatus, a controller is configured to control a printing unit such that printing is started after a transport distance of the substrate reaches a pre-discharge transport distance, in which the pre-discharge transport distance is set to a value not less than a first longest distance, provided that a transport distance in a condition in which the transport distance is a longest distance among conditions 1, 2, and 3 provided below is the first longest distance. Condition 1: a transport distance until a region of the substrate that was nipped between a front driving roller and a nip roller passes through a printing head disposed most downstream in a transport path of the substrate, Condition 2: a transport distance until a transport speed of the substrate becomes constant, and Condition 3: a transport distance until tension of the substrate being transported becomes stable.

A printing apparatus includes a control unit configured to execute image processing including a division and a combination of image data, and a printing unit configured to perform printing on a printing medium based on image data after the image processing, wherein the control unit acquires image data as a target of the n-th image processing, generates an upper image whose lower side is horizontal, and a lower image whose upper side is horizontal by dividing the image data by a horizontal line, generates combined image data whose upper side and lower side are horizontal by combining a lower image whose upper side is horizontal and that is generated by the division in the image processing at the (n−1)-th time, on the upper side of the upper image, and causes the printing unit to execute printing based on the combined image data.

A conveying device includes a sheet conveyor configured to convey a medium in a conveyance direction of the medium, a sheet winder including a winding roller and a winding motor, and circuitry to control the sheet conveyor and the sheet winder. The circuitry is configured to convey the medium intermittently while repeating: causing the sheet conveyor and the sheet winder to convey the loosened medium by a predetermined conveyance amount; rotating the winding motor in a normal direction by a predetermined torque according to an outer winding diameter of the medium to apply a predetermined tension force to the medium; and rotating the winding motor in a reverse direction to loosen the medium by a predetermined slack amount. The circuitry is configured to determine the predetermined tension force according to the width of the medium intersecting with the conveyance direction of the medium.

A control device includes a processor configured to: acquire information on a direction in which continuous paper is wound up, specify a viewable surface, which is a surface of the continuous paper viewable from a user in a state where the continuous paper has been wound up, on a basis of the direction in which the continuous paper is wound up, and control a printer to print print information, which is information on a job printed on the continuous paper, on the viewable surface.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PRINTING ONTO A POLYMERIC WEB
The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for securely applying print to a web of continuous polymeric film. The web can first travel in a machine direction on a tensioning roller and onto a folding board whereupon the web is divided into first and second partial widths with a cross-section of the web taking on a U-shape or a V-shape. In between the cross-section of these two partial widths a printer can be placed such that the printer prints onto an inner surface of first partial width. Once the printing is complete, the folding of the web can be completed such that an inner surface of the second partial width is in contact with, covers, and protects the printed matter placed onto the first partial width.
PRINTING APPARATUS
A printing apparatus includes a printing head that performs printing in a printing region of a first surface of a medium, a support portion that supports a second surface of a medium, a transport unit that transports the medium in a transport direction, and a static electricity eliminating material that is provided facing the second surface and that eliminates, in a non-contact manner with the medium, static electricity accumulated in the medium. The support portion includes a spacer that maintains a predetermined distance between the medium and the static electricity eliminating material.

A printer includes a printer main body that performs printing on a medium, a supporting frame that supports the printer main body from a lower side, a tension applying mechanism including a tension bar that comes into contact with a medium before printing and applies a tension to the medium, and a first roll attaching portion and a second roll attaching portion to which the medium before printing wound into a roll shape is attachable. The roll attaching portion, the tension bar, and the roll attaching portion are disposed on a back side of the supporting frame and are disposed in such order from a supporting frame side; and a medium after printing is wound into a roll shape on a front side of the supporting frame. The tension applying mechanism includes a frame having a guide groove for guiding the tension bar in a vertical direction.

A tension detection device according to an embodiment includes a base, a support member, a continuous body, an external force detection unit, and a tension detection unit. One end or both ends of the support member are fixed to the base. The support member has an external force measurement section integrally provided at the one end or both ends thereof. The continuous body is conveyed while wound around an outer circumference of the support member. The external force detection unit is provided at the external force measurement section of the support member. The external force detection unit detects an external force. The tension detection unit detects tension of the continuous body based on a detection result from the external force detection unit.
