The second unit is configured to couple with the first unit. The rotary body is disposed adjacent to the electromagnetic unit and overlapping the first unit and the second unit in an axial direction of the rotary body. The cover portion is mounted on one of the first unit and the second unit and configured to cover an outer circumferential surface of another one of the first unit and the second unit. A leading end of the cover portion in the axial direction and the outer circumferential surface of said another one of the first unit and the second unit are spaced apart by a gap. The wall is disposed between the gap and the rotary body.

After an ejector passes an ejection end position, a controller controls a second conveyor to convey a sheet in a sub-scanning direction. The ejection end position is a position at which ink ejection by the ejector ends before reaching a turn position. An ejection start position is a position at which ink ejection by the ejector starts after turning at the turn position. Based on positional relationship between the ejection end position and a standard position, the controller adjusts timing of conveyance of the sheet or shift the turn position from the standard position in a direction of reducing an overlap between a sheet conveyance period after the ejector passes the ejection end position and an ejector deceleration period before the ejector reaches the turn position. The standard position is a standard turn position of the ejector and is determined from the ejection end position and the ejection start position.

According to an embodiment, there is provided a printer including a plurality of printing modes. A first printing mode is a printing mode for discharging a label by a transfer device, the label being still attached to a backing sheet. A second printing mode is a printing mode for discharging the label by the transfer device while peeling off the label from the backing sheet. The printer controls power supply from a storage battery such that a printing device performs printing at a first printing speed when the printing mode is the first printing mode and such that the printing device performs the printing at a second printing speed when the printing mode is the second printing mode, the second printing speed being slower than the first printing speed.

Selectable drive printing device

A selectable drive printing device includes a drive selector system to select between driving a print drive system and driving a scan drive system based at least partially on a position of a selector swing arm of the drive selector system. The selectable drive printing device includes a shifter to selectively shift the drive selector system between a scanning system drive position of the selector swing arm and a printing system drive position of the selector swing arm.

Each transmission link controls movement of a respective element coupled to a first side of the transmission link, under control of a common drive source coupled to a second side of the transmission link. The movement mechanism is controlled to make a drive interval of the stepping motor at least one time step longer than a preceding drive interval before a rotation speed of the stepping motor reaches a predetermined target speed.

The returning position is located at a first position downstream from the sheet facing area in the first orientation, under a condition that the determined ink amount is less than a threshold value; and the returning position is located at a second position downstream from the first position in the first orientation, under a condition that the determined ink amount is not less than the threshold value.
