DIRECT CONTACT PRINTBAR CALIBRATION
A printing system includes a printbar having an extension contact, a platen having a platen contact, and a controller to execute instructions. The instructions as executed by the controller cause the printbar to move toward the platen, monitor an adjustment mechanism indicating operation parameters of the adjustment mechanism, and set a reference position of the printbar in response to the parameter satisfying a threshold. A printing system comprising: a printbar including contact extension; a platen disposed opposite the printbar, the platen having a platen contact; and a controller to execute a set of instructions to: cause the printbar to move toward the platen; monitor an adjustment mechanism indicating operation parameters of the adjustment mechanism; and set a reference position of the printbar in response to the parameter of the adjustment mechanism satisfying a threshold.
System and Method for Decorating Suitcases and Luggage Items
A system for stamping suitcases and luggage items, by in-line digital printing and drying, in a single pass, including: a printing module configured to print an image on one side of the suitcase with at least one printing head and one drying lamp; movement means for moving the items to be printed, with an individual conveyor belt, synchronised with the injector and the drying lamp, and movement means formed by a plurality of individual conveyors synchronised to operate according to the presence or absence of suitcases on adjacent conveyors, preventing them from impacting each other; and a traceability-tracking system configured to determine the position of each suitcase, by means of a unique two-dimensional identification code associated with each item, or by means of supervision of an operator. It also includes trays for coupling those suitcases that have an uneven shape, controlling the movement thereof and the correct alignment of the side to be printed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING A PRINTHEAD TO MEDIA GAP IN AN INKJET PRINTER
A method of operating a printer compares print job parameters for a current print job to be printed by the printer to a database of print job parameters for previously performed print jobs to identify media issues that may be caused by printing the current print job at a nominal printhead/media transport path distance. The gap between the printheads and the media transport is adjusted for identified media issues. Additionally, the method evaluates the image data content of the current print job to identify media issues that may arise from the printing of each sheet in the print job. If media issues are identified from the image data content, then the gap between the printheads and the media transport is further adjusted for sheets corresponding to the identified media issues caused by the image data content. An inkjet printer capable of being operated in this manner is also disclosed.

LIQUID DISCHARGE APPARATUS AND LIQUID DISCHARGE METHOD
A liquid discharge apparatus includes a head, processing circuitry, and a memory. The head includes a plurality of nozzle rows in each of which a plurality of nozzles are arranged. The processing circuitry detects landing positions of the liquid discharged from the plurality of nozzle rows and corrects the landing positions of the liquid based on a result of detecting the landing positions of the liquid. The memory stores data related to a relation among the landing positions of the liquid. The processing circuitry detects landing positions of the liquid discharged from one representative nozzle row. The processing circuitry corrects landing positions of the liquid discharged from all of the plurality of nozzle rows based on a result of detecting the landing positions of the liquid discharged from the one representative nozzle row and the data related to the relation among the landing positions stored in the memory.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRINTING A FLEXIBLE WEB AND PRINTING COMPOSITIONS
A printing system comprises a transport apparatus adapted to transport a flexible web (24) along a process direction and first and second individually controllable inkjet imager units (44, 60, 70, 82) offset from one another along the process direction. Each of the first imager unit and the second imager unit includes a first portion (226) operable to print on a first portion of the web and a second portion (228) operable to print on the second portion of the web wherein each of the first portion and second portion of the first and second imager units is stationary along the process direction and the lateral direction.

RECORDING APPARATUS
A recording apparatus includes a head unit including a recording head and configured to move between a recording position where recording is performed on a medium and a retraction position away from a medium transportation path; a movement mechanism that moves the head unit; and a positioning portion configured to position the head unit at the recording position. A moment for rotating the head unit is produced by a force applied by the movement mechanism to the head unit and by a reaction force received by the head unit from the positioning portion. A unit pusher configured to apply, to the head unit, a force acting in a direction of canceling rotation of the head unit when the head unit is located at the recording position pushes the head unit in a direction intersecting with a moving direction of the head unit.
