WRITING INSTRUMENT
Provided is a writing implement capable of drawing lines using capillary action, wherein the width of the line can be freely adjusted while the line is being drawn and it is possible to draw lines of almost the same width at the beginning of the use of the writing implement as at the end of use. A felt-tip pen 1 is provided with an ink reservoir 11, a collector 17, and a core 29 for drawing by capillary action the ink that has been dispensed by the collector 17, dispensing the drawn ink from the tip, and adhering same to a paper surface. Even in repetitive writing, the rate of variability in the width of the lines drawn at the end of use with respect to the width of lines drawn at the beginning of use is 10% or less.
Writing instruments and associated methods
Embodiments of the disclosure can include writing instruments, nibs for writing instruments, and methods of making the same. In one embodiment, the writing instrument includes a reservoir; an ink solution comprising a pigment, the ink solution being housed within the reservoir; a nib disposed at an end of the reservoir and plugging an opening of the reservoir such that the reservoir is closed, wherein a tip of the nib extends outside of the reservoir; and a filament extending within the reservoir, the filament being in fluid communication with a portion of the nib within the reservoir, such that the ink solution travels along the filament and through the nib, by capillary action, wherein the nib and filament are formed such that no more than 50 percent of the pigment present in the nib and filament flow into the reservoir outside of the nib and filament when the writing instrument is stored with the nib up for a period of one day.
Roller-ball paint marker
Embodiments of the invention are directed to a roller ball marking instrument for use with paint, a method for assembling the roller ball marking instrument, and a system for delivering paint. The body of the marking instrument includes a reservoir for storing paint. The body is coupled to a fibrous roller ball via a retaining ring. The roller balls sits within a partially-enclosed cavity in the center of the retaining ring. A least part of the roller ball protrudes through an opening in the retaining ring. Paint in the reservoir moves first through an opening at one end of the body and then through an open center of the retaining ring. The paint is transferred to the roller ball. The roller ball rotates freely within the cavity of the retaining ring and transfers the paint to a writing surface.
APPLICATOR
An applicator includes an approximately cylindrical-shaped body, a core-like application member, a storage for a liquid applying material, a liquid applying material absorbing body that adjusts an amount of impregnation, and a plug that causes a rear end side of the application member to be inserted through an insertion hole to hold the application member. The plug exposes the rear end side to a side of the storage. The insertion hole has a shape in which a clearance width with the application member is adjustable according to viscosity and a material of the liquid applying material to make an amount of the liquid applying material adjustable. A storage region is configured to be increased and decreased by changing a position of a stop plug. The absorbing body is mounted to a distal end and has changeable length and size configured to increase and decrease the amount of impregnation through cutting.
Writing instrument and ink cartridge
A writing instrument includes: a replacement ink cartridge including a bottomed cylindrical container that has an opened front end and a closed rear end and a plug fitted into an inner circumferential surface of an opening of the container; and a projection inserted into the opening of the container to press the plug rearward, thereby opening the plug of the ink cartridge, wherein the projection and the plug are fitted when the plug is press opened, and when the cartridge is replaced, the fitting between the projection and the plug is released and the plug is locked again in the opening of the container.
Marker for optical mark response forms
A writing instrument includes a first reservoir for dispensing a first fluid having a first property of reflectivity. A first tip member is in fluid connection with the first reservoir. The first tip member has an end with a size and shape that corresponds to a response area of the response form. A second reservoir can be used for dispensing a second fluid, which is capable of modifying the first property of reflectivity when covering the first fluid. A second tip member is in fluid connection with the second reservoir. The second tip member has an end with a size and shape that corresponds to the response area of the response form.
Retractable Liquid Applicator Device
An improved retractable liquid dispenser device comprises an outer body having an internal channel communicating with an open first end. A liquid dispenser includes a supply reservoir and a discharge reservoir with a valve disposed therebetween. A retractable mechanism slidably supports the liquid dispenser within the outer body. A retractable valve is located in proximity to the open first end of the outer body. A first depression of the retractable actuator opens the retractable valve and moves the liquid dispenser into the extended position for enabling a depression of the distal end of the liquid applicator to open the dispensing valve to permit liquid to flow from the supply reservoir into the dispensing reservoir to dispense the applicator liquid from the distal end of the liquid applicator. A second depression of the retractable actuator moves the liquid dispenser into the retracted position and closes the retractable valve to enclose the distal end of the liquid applicator within the outer body.
Writing instrument and ink cartridge
A writing instrument includes: a writing instrument body and an ink cartridge. The ink cartridge includes a bottomed cylindrical container with an opened front end and a plug fitted into an inner circumferential surface of an opening of the container. The writing instrument body includes a projection that opens the ink cartridge when inserted into the opening to press the plug rearward and an air tight connecting portion, formed separately from the projection, that surrounds the projection. The opening is divided into a plurality of openings by air tight fitting the opening in the air tight connecting portion. A plurality of longitudinal channels are formed on an outer periphery of the projection. At least one of the plurality of channels serves as an ink channel and at least one of the other channels serves as an air intake path.
SINTERED POROUS POLYPROPYLENE MEDIA AND APPLICATIONS
Compositions including a sintered porous ultra-high-molecular-weight polypropylene material having a viscosity average molecular weight over 500,000, an average porc size ranging from 10 m to 200 m, and a porosity ranging from 20% to 60%. Devices and methods including such compositions.
Non-smear nib and associated writing instruments
Writing instruments with flexible nibs for reduced writing force in use are provided. A nib includes a nib body having a flexible upper writing portion and a lower portion in communication with the flexible upper writing portion, the lower portion of the nib body being configured to deliver ink to the flexible upper writing portion and the flexible upper writing portion being configured to deliver ink to a writing surface, wherein the flexible upper writing portion of the nib body has a flattened chisel-shaped tip at a superior end of the flexible upper writing portion, and wherein the nib is effective to deliver ink to the writing surface upon application of a force of less than about 0.1 lbs thereto.
