Wheels having multiple-piece composite structures
A wheel includes a first hoop attached to a second hoop about a circumferential interface. The first and second hoops form at least part of an enclosed box structure positioned circumferentially around the wheel and adjacent to an outboard side of the wheel. The box structure may be formed at least in part by circumferential projections of the first hoop and the second hoop. The wheel may also include a central hub that optionally includes spokes. In some embodiments, the central hub may form part of the enclosed box structure. In some embodiments, a first hoop portion and a second hoop portion may be integral or unitary, with a box structure integrally formed between the hoop portions.

A wheel structure for an automobile having a wheel rim, a central part, and spoke elements connected to the wheel rim and individually connected to the central part. Spoke elements have through-holes for wheel screws or bolts and the central part has holes for screwing in or pushing through same wheel screws or bolts. The through-holes of the spoke elements form a first hole circle and the holes in the central part form a second hole circle. The diameter of the first hole circle is smaller than the diameter of the second hole circle if the spoke elements are not connected to the central part, and the diameter of the first hole circle corresponds to the diameter of the second hole circle if the spoke elements are also connected to the central part.

A wheel structure for an automobile having a wheel rim, a central part, and spoke elements connected to the wheel rim and individually connected to the central part. Spoke elements have through-holes for wheel screws or bolts and the central part has holes for screwing in or pushing through same wheel screws or bolts. The through-holes of the spoke elements form a first hole circle and the holes in the central part form a second hole circle. The hub portion (14) comprises a generally disc shaped hub plate (16), and the face portion (12) comprises a plurality of spokes (18). The connection comprises an annular hub ring (22) surrounding the hub plate (16), the hub ring (22) comprising a plurality of layers of reinforcement fibers extending in an at least generally circumferential direction about the hub ring (22). The connection also comprises a first plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (24) extending in a generally radial direction R relative to an axis of rotation of the wheel (10), and along a front face of each spoke (18), across a front edge (26) and an inner annular surface (28) of the hub ring (22) and across a front face (30) of the hub plate (16); and a second plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (32) extending in a generally radial direction R along a rear face (33) of each spoke (18), across a rear edge (34) of the hub ring (22) and across a rear face (36) of the hub plate (6). The connection further comprises a third plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (36), the third plurality of layers (36) of reinforcing fibers overlaying the first and second (1) layers of reinforcing fibers (24, 32), the third plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers 36 extending in a direction between +30 degrees and +60 degrees to the radial direction R; and a fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40), the fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40) overlaying the first and second layers of reinforcing fibers (24, (32), the fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40) extending in a direction (20) between 30 degrees and 60 degrees to the radial direction R.
Face to hub connection for a composite wheel
A connection between a face portion (12) and a hub portion (14) of a composite wheel (10). The hub portion (14) comprises a generally disc shaped hub plate (16), and the face portion (12) comprises a plurality of spokes (18). The connection comprises an annular hub ring (22) surrounding the hub plate (16), the hub ring (22) comprising a plurality of layers of reinforcement fibers extending in an at least generally circumferential direction about the hub ring (22). The connection also comprises a first plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (24) extending in a generally radial direction R relative to an axis of rotation of the wheel (10), and along a front face of each spoke (18), across a front edge (26) and an inner annular surface (28) of the hub ring (22) and across a front face (30) of the hub plate (16); and a second plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (32) extending in a generally radial direction R along a rear face (33) of each spoke (18), across a rear edge (34) of the hub ring (22) and across a rear face (36) of the hub plate (6). The connection further comprises a third plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (36), the third plurality of layers (36) of reinforcing fibers overlaying the first and second (1) layers of reinforcing fibers (24, 32), the third plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers 36 extending in a direction between +30 degrees and +60 degrees to the radial direction R; and a fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40), the fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40) overlaying the first and second layers of reinforcing fibers (24, (32), the fourth plurality of layers of reinforcing fibers (40) extending in a direction (20) between 30 degrees and 60 degrees to the radial direction R.

A non-pneumatic tire includes an attachment body (11) attached to an axle, an inner tubular body (12) fitted onto the attachment body (11) from the outside, an outer tubular body (13) configured to surround the inner tubular body (12) from the outside in a tire radial direction, and a plurality of connecting members (15) disposed between the inner tubular body (12) and the outer tubular body (13) in a tire circumferential direction and configured to connect both of the tubular bodies (12) and (13) while maintaining relative elastic displacement therebetween, wherein at least one of an outer circumferential section of the attachment body (11) and an inner circumferential section of the inner tubular body (12) that are locked to each other is inclined throughout the circumference in the tire circumferential direction from the outside toward the inside in a tire radial direction as it goes from both of the outsides toward the inside in a tire width direction (H), and is formed in a V shape when seen in a cross-sectional view in the tire width direction (H).

A non-pneumatic tire includes an attachment body (11) attached to an axle, an inner tubular body (12) fitted onto the attachment body (11) from the outside, an outer tubular body (13) configured to surround the inner tubular body (12) from the outside in a tire radial direction, and a plurality of connecting members (15) disposed between the inner tubular body (12) and the outer tubular body (13) in a tire circumferential direction and configured to connect both of the tubular bodies (12) and (13) while maintaining relative elastic displacement therebetween, wherein at least one of an outer circumferential section of the attachment body (11) and an inner circumferential section of the inner tubular body (12) that are locked to each other is inclined throughout the circumference in the tire circumferential direction from the outside toward the inside in a tire radial direction as it goes from both of the outsides toward the inside in a tire width direction (H), and is formed in a V shape when seen in a cross-sectional view in the tire width direction (H).
Irrigation system support wheel
A support wheel for an irrigation system may comprise a rim configured to contact the ground with a ground contact surface, with the rim having an inner surface and an outer surface forming the ground contact surface. The rim may have a first edge and a second edge, with the first edge lying in a first plane. A hub may be positioned at a center of the wheel and being configured to mount on an axle. A spoke structure may extend from the hub of the wheel to the rim of the wheel. The spoke structure may include a plurality of frames, and at least one of the frames may be mounted on the inner surface of the rim along a line extending from the first edge to the second edge of the rim in a non-parallel and non-perpendicular orientation to the first plane.
WHEEL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING TAPERED WEDGE GAS SPRING ATTACHMENT ASSEMBLIES AND RELATED METHODS
A wheel assembly for a vehicle may include an inner rim to be coupled to the vehicle, and an outer rim surrounding the inner rim. The wheel assembly may also include gas springs operatively coupled between the inner rim and the outer rim to provide relative movement between the inner rim and the outer rim. Attachment assemblies may each include an attachment bracket coupled to a corresponding one of the inner and outer rims and defining spaced apart first and second fastener-receiving tapered wedge passageways, and a fastener extending through the spaced apart first and second fastener-receiving tapered wedge passageways and coupling a corresponding gas spring to the attachment bracket. Each attachment assembly may also include first and second tapered wedges carried by the fastener and engaging the respective first and second fastener-receiving tapered wedge passageways upon securing of the fastener.
Delta wheel
A wheel for a vehicle comprises a rim to support a tire and a wheel disc connected to the rim and configured to engage an axle hub of a vehicle. The wheel disc comprises one or more spokes extending outwardly from a center section of the wheel disc to the rim, each spoke being formed by a substantially planar curbside spoke member and a substantially planar inside spoke member, The curbside and inside spoke members are oriented transversely to each other and to a portion of the center section lying between the curbside and inside spoke members to define a triangle. A plane of the triangle is substantially parallel to a center axis of symmetry of the disc.
