Wheel hub with integrated circular brake element
12090781 · 2024-09-17 · ·

In one aspect, a wheel hub apparatus including a wheel hub that is rotatable about a central axis and has a unitary, one-piece construction. The wheel hub apparatus further includes a circular brake element having a unitary, one-piece construction and extending about the wheel hub. The wheel hub and the circular brake element include engaged portions securing the wheel hub and the circular brake element together. The engaged portions of the wheel hub and the circular brake element fix the circular brake element against axial movement along the wheel hub. In this manner, the engaged portions of the wheel hub and the circular brake element provide a mechanical joint that connects the wheel hub and the circular brake element using the material of the wheel hub and the circular brake element.

A motorcycle wheel adapter includes a metal tube; a sprocket mounting plate joined to the metal tube near one end; a brake assembly mounting plate joined to the metal tube near another end; and a wheel mounting plate joined to the metal tube in between. The wheel mounting plate is closer to the brake assembly mounting plate than to the sprocket mounting plate. The tube has a first end, a second end, and a longitudinally formed bore. The sprocket mounting plate, the brake assembly mounting plate, and the wheel mounting plate have evenly spaced holes around their perimeters. A rear wheel assembly comprises a sprocket, a wheel, a brake drum, and the motorcycle wheel adapter. The motorcycle wheel adapter converts the motorcycle from a narrow, tube type, spoked motorcycle wheel to a more offroad-capable and reliable ATV style tire and wheel allows for more reliability, easier repairs, and more traction.

Vehicle Spindle And A Method Of Attaching The Spindle to A Portion Of An Axle Housing
20180215200 · 2018-08-02 ·

A vehicle spindle and a method of attaching the spindle to a portion of an axle half shaft housing. The spindle has an inner surface, an outer surface, one or more bearing journals on the outer surface of the spindle and a radially protruding portion circumferentially extending from at least a portion of the outer surface of an axially inboard end portion of the spindle. Prior to attaching the spindle to the axle half shaft housing, the one or more bearing journals are ground, a clocking angle for the radially protruding portion of the spindle is determined and the spindle is aligned to the determined clocking angle. Once the spindle is aligned to the determined clocking angle, the axially inboard end portion of the spindle is attached to an axially outboard end portion of the axle half shaft housing using one or more welds.

LIGHTWEIGHT HUB MADE OF ALUMINUM-STEEL COMPOSITE MATERIALS

The utility model relates to the technical field of a hub, particularly to a light-weight hub made of a steel-aluminum composite material. The hub includes an aluminum alloy base body, an outer bearing hole steel sleeve, an inner bearing hole steel sleeve and a plurality of bolt hole steel inserts; wherein a plurality of wheel bolt holes and brake disc bolt holes in a circumferential side of a flange of the aluminum alloy base body are provided with steel inserts; and an outer bearing outer race and an inner bearing outer race are respectively press-fitted into the outer bearing steel sleeve and the inner bearing steel sleeve in an interference manner, so as to be fixedly connected with the hub.

AXLE ASSEMBLY AUXILIARY FLANGES

An axle can include auxiliary flanges separate from the axle flanges. The auxiliary flanges can be configured to accommodate vehicle protection systems. By incorporating auxiliary flanges, such axles facilitate the installation and use of vehicle protection systems.

Axle assembly having a brake drum

An axle assembly having a brake drum and inboard and outboard wheels. The brake drum the inboard wheel may cooperate to inhibit movement of the inboard wheel in an inboard direction. An outboard wheel clamp and an outboard split ring may cooperate to inhibit movement of the outboard wheel in an outboard direction.

REINFORCED AXLE JOINT

An axle and wheel end assembly includes a tubular axle housing with an annular end surface. The axle and wheel end assembly also includes a spindle with an annular end surface welded to the annular end surface of the tubular axle housing at an attachment periphery. The axle and wheel end assembly further includes reinforcing structure fixed to the tubular axle housing and spindle. The reinforcing structure is located to encompass at least a portion of the attachment periphery.

Axle assembly having a brake drum and method of assembly

An axle assembly and a method of assembly. An outboard wheel is mounted to an outboard mounting arrangement of a wheel hub. An inboard wheel and a brake drum are mounted to an inboard mounting arrangement of the wheel hub such that a brake drum mounting arrangement of the brake drum is axially positioned between the inboard wheel and the inboard mounting arrangement.

INTEGRATED AXLE ASSEMBLY AND STRUCTURAL ASSEMBLY
