A stable and safe skin antiseptic solution comprises chlorhexidine, pharmaceutically acceptable salts of chlorhexidine (e.g. chlorhexidine digluconate), or a mixture thereof, dimethyl lauramide/myristamide, and water. Said solution is essentially free of coconut oil diethanolamine concentrate (“cocamide DEA”), a known carcinogen. The active antiseptic ingredient, chlorhexidine (or its salts), is a di(4-chlorophenyldiguanido) compound. The functions of dimethyl lauramide/myristamide in said solution include, but not limited to, an aesthetics enhancer, a foam stabilizer, a solubilizer, and a fragrance. Said solution is specifically formulated to be safe with a reduced risk of carcinogenicity, and be capable of producing a stable and long lasting foam. The active antiseptic agent is evenly distributed in said solution and in said foam, respectively.

In some embodiments, a composition is disclosed that includes pure silk fibroin-based protein fragments that are substantially devoid of sericin, wherein the composition has an average weight average molecular weight ranging from about 17 kDa to about 38 kDa, wherein the composition has a polydispersity of between about 1.5 and about 3.0, wherein the composition is substantially homogeneous, wherein the composition between 0 ppm to about 500 ppm of inorganic residuals, and wherein the composition includes between 0 ppm to about 500 ppm of organic residuals. In some embodiments, a composition is disclosed that includes silk fibroin-based protein fragments and is suitable for use in consumer applications. In some embodiments, a preserved composition is disclosed that includes silk fibroin-based protein fragments. In some embodiments, a method of preserving a solution using silk fibroin-based protein fragments is disclosed.

Dry mixtures and liquid formulations are provided that comprise metal oxide and/or metal hydroxide nanocrystalline particles. The dry mixtures are advantageously formulated with select surfactants to be readily solubilized and stable in liquid carriers. Additional select components are provided in preferred combinations that are capable of achieving improved biocidal and chemical agent efficacy. Notably, the inventive formulations provided herein allow for easier delivery of the formulations and increased shelf stability.

The present invention relates to a hydrophobic antimicrobial agent comprising a mineral material, which is surface coated with a copper and/or silver salt of at least one fatty acid, a method for its manufacture, wherein at least one fatty acid and at least one copper and/or silver salt are dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent, the solutions are combined, the copper and/or silver salt of the at east one fatty acid is precipitated by adding water, separated, and surface coated onto the mineral material. Applicants have identified a critical skin benefit package that can be used in liquid alcohol sanitizing compositions that provides lower amounts of skin conditioners in combination with a specific ratio of different emollients that provide improved skin health with chronic repeated use. The package also provides improved skin feel with without a tacky residue upon drying.
