There is provided a steel cord including a steel wire and a plating layer that covers the steel wire and has Cu, Zn, and Co, wherein Cu and Zn are alloyed and a region covered with Co and a region not covered with Co are mixed on the outermost surface of the plating layer.
PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AN ELONGATED STEEL ELEMENT TO REINFORCE RUBBER PRODUCTS
A process for manufacturing an elongated steel element for reinforcing rubber products includes forming, on an elongated steel element, a coating of a ternary or quaternary alloy of copper-M-zinc, where M is one or two metals selected from cobalt, nickel, tin, indium, manganese, iron, bismuth and molybdenum; drawing the elongated steel element in an aqueous lubricant containing a phosphorus compound and nitrate; and twisting two or more of the elongated steel elements into a steel cord. A copper content inside the coating is 58 to 75 wt %. A content of the one or two metals inside the coating is 0.5 to 10 wt %. A final reduction in a diameter of the elongated steel element occurs during the drawing step. The phosphorus compound is present on and/or in the coating in an amount of 0.3 to 1 mg/m.sup.2 of the coating, as measured via an Inductively Coupled Plasma technique.
ATMOSPHERIC PLASMA TREATMENT OF REINFORCEMENT CORDS AND USE IN RUBBER ARTICLES
The present invention is directed to a method of making a cord-reinforced rubber article, comprising the steps of A) mixing a carrier gas, sulfur and an alkyne, to form a gas mixture; B) generating an atmospheric pressure plasma from the gas mixture; C) exposing a steel reinforcement cord to the atmospheric pressure plasma to produce a treated reinforcement cord; and D) contacting the treated steel reinforcement cord with a rubber composition comprising a diene based elastomer.
TIRE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING TIRE
Provided are: a tire including: a tire frame; and a reinforcing metal cord member that is wound at least on the outer circumference of the tire frame, wherein at least a portion of the reinforcing metal cord member is coated with a coating composition via an adhesion layer that contains a polyamide-based adhesive and has a melting point of from 160 C. to 200 C., the coating composition containing at least one thermoplastic material selected from polyamide-based thermoplastic resins having a melting point of from 160 C. to 240 C. and polyamide-based thermoplastic elastomers having a melting point of from 160 C. to 240 C.; and a method of producing the same.
ATMOSPHERIC PLASMA TREATMENT OF REINFORCEMENT CORDS AND USE IN RUBBER ARTICLES
The present invention is directed to a method of making a cord-reinforced rubber article, comprising the steps of A) mixing a carrier gas, a sulfur-containing compound and an alkyne, to form a gas mixture; B) generating an atmospheric pressure plasma from the gas mixture; C) exposing a reinforcement cord to the atmospheric pressure plasma to produce a treated reinforcement cord; and D) contacting the treated reinforcement cord with a rubber composition comprising a diene based elastomer.
PNEUMATIC TIRE
A tire 2 includes a tie gum 24 between a carcass 12 and each chafer 22. In the tire 2, an inner liner 20 is formed from a thermoplastic elastomer composition including a styrene-isobutylene-styrene block copolymer. The inner liner 20 has a thickness of not greater than 1.5 mm. The tie gum 24 joins the inner liner 20 and the chafer 22 and has a volume resistivity of not greater than 10.sup.8 .Math.cm.
CABLE BEAD FOR PNEUMATIC TIRE AND PNEUMATIC TIRE HAVING THE SAME
The present disclosure relates to a cable bead for a pneumatic tire which constitutes a bead part of a pneumatic tire, improves rubber permeability by restricting a ratio between a diameter of a cable and a pitch of an outer wire, and improves durability of a pneumatic tire by improving rubber adhesive properties through cobalt coating on a surface of the outer wire, and a pneumatic tire having the same, and the cable bead for a pneumatic tire is characterized in that the diameter D of the cable and a pitch P of the outer wire 20 satisfy a relationship formula, P/D=25 to 45, and further characterized in that the surface of the outer wire 20 is coated with cobalt after wire drawing.
Steel cord for rubber reinforcement
A steel cord with two or more filaments possibly including a wrapping filament, at least one but not all of the two or more filaments including the possible wrapping filament is coated with a ternary or quaternary alloy coating of copper-M-zinc. The steel cord with lower cost and good adhesion performance is for reinforcing rubber product.
COBALT-FREE STEEL CORD-RUBBER COMPOSITE
A cobalt-free steel cord-rubber composite article includes, in sequence, a steel cord core, a steel cord coating, and a rubber layer. The steel cord coating contains from about 61 wt % to about 66 wt % copper, from about 3.5 wt % to about 6.5 wt % iron, and a balance of zinc and unavoidable impurities. The rubber layer is formed from a rubber compound including 100 phr of at least one elastomer; sulfur; about 20 phr to about 100 phr of at least one filler; about 2 phr to about 15 phr of zinc oxide; and about 0.5 phr to about 3.0 phr of at least one accelerator, containing no cobalt and no resin.
RUBBER COMPOSITION FOR COATING STEEL CORD AND TIRE
An object of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition which is excellent in cord adhesiveness, steering stability and elongation at break. The present invention relates to a rubber composition for coating a steel cord comprising not less than 0.12 part by mass of zinc benzoate and/or zinc t-butylbenzoate, 0.03 to 0.30 part by mass of fatty acid cobalt salt in terms of cobalt element, and less than 0.5 part by mass in total of a fatty acid having 16 to 22 carbon atoms and a fatty acid derived from the fatty acid cobalt salt which has 16 to 22 carbon atoms based on 100 parts by mass of a rubber component, and a tire having a breaker and/or a carcass obtained by use of the rubber composition for coating a steel cord.
