A non-pneumatic elastic wheel (30) defining three perpendicular directions, circumferential (X), axial (Y) and radial (Z), comprises at least: —a hub (31), for example made of metal; an annular band referred to as a shear band (32) oriented in the circumferential direction (X), surmounted by a tread (33); and a plurality of support elements (34) connecting the hub (31) to the annular shear band (32). The annular shear band (32) is formed by a laminate comprising at least one layer of silicone rubber, in particular of the high temperature crosslinking type, such as, for example, a silicone rubber of VMQ or PVMQ grade, the said layer being sandwiched between two layers of fibre-resin composite comprising filaments of an inorganic substance, in particular glass, embedded in a thermoset resin such as, for example, a vinyl ester resin.

Each reinforcing strip is formed by a laminate made up of n inner composite layers comprising low-modulus oriented fibres parallel to each other, the angle of which with the circumferential direction is, in absolute terms, less than or equal to 10°, together with m outer composite layers on either side of the inner composite layers, comprising high-modulus oriented fibres parallel to each other, the angle of which with the circumferential direction is, in absolute terms, strictly greater than 10°. The high- and low-modulus fibres are coated with a polymer matrix.

A method for manufacturing a straight steel monofilament for the reinforcement of belt ply of a pneumatic tyre, where the arc-height of the straight steel monofilament is less than 30 mm. The steel monofilament is plastically deformed by a twisting along the axis of the steel monofilament on a double-twist apparatus. The plastic twist deformation eliminates the surface stress difference on the steel monofilament and provides a strainght steel monofilament for belt ply reinforcement. This provides a simple solution with existing apparatus to manufacture straight steel monofilament suitable for tire reinforcement with high speed for mass production.

A motorcycle tire comprises a carcass and a tread reinforcing layer. The tread reinforcing layer comprises a belt and a band. The band is composed of a jointless band ply having a developed width less than 65% of the developed tread width. The belt is composed of at least one belt ply having a developed width of 65% or more of the developed tread width. At first positions, the intersecting angle between the belt cords and the carcass cords is 20 to 60 degrees. In the tread portion in a tire meridional cross sectional view, a single arc passing through a point on the tread surface at the tire equator and two points on the tread surface at the tread edges has a radius of not more than 0.7 times the maximum tire cross-section width.

Pneumatic tire comprising reinforcing elements in the form of multi-layer tapes

A tire includes a carcass ply, two beads, two sidewalls, and a crown reinforcing zone. The carcass ply connects the two beads by way of the two sidewalls. The crown reinforcing zone is positioned radially external to the carcass ply. The crown reinforcing zone includes a plurality of reinforcing strips disposed in at least two layers. The reinforcing strips are coated in an elastomeric composition. A mean overlap between the reinforcing strips of the two layers is greater than 40%. The reinforcing strips are made of a thermoplastic film having a modulus greater than 0.9 GPa, and preferably greater than 2 GPa, in a main direction and in a transverse direction.

Each of the first inclined portions and the second inclined portions has an angle with respect to a tire circumferential direction continuously decreased from an inner side in a tire axial direction to an outer side in the tire axial direction.

The tire comprises a carcass ply connecting two beads via two sidewalls, the carcass ply being surmounted radially towards the outside of the tire by a crown reinforcing zone which is itself surmounted radially towards the outside of the tire by a tread, the crown reinforcing zone comprising a plurality of reinforcing strips arranged over at least one ply of strips. The strips are arranged so that they are juxtaposed and at an angle less than or equal to 15 with respect to the circumferential direction. Each reinforcing strip is made up of a laminate of at least 3 composite layers, each composite layer containing oriented fibers having a tensile modulus greater than or equal to 55 GPa, which are parallel to one another and coated in a polymer matrix.
