The middle land portion is provided with a plurality of inclined grooves, a plurality of inboard middle lateral grooves including one end communicated with the first main groove and the other end communicated with the inclined groove, and a plurality of outboard middle lateral grooves including one end communicated with the second main groove and the other end communicated with the inclined groove. Respective groove center points of the inboard middle lateral grooves are arranged in different places in the circumferential direction of the tire from respective groove center points of the outboard middle lateral grooves.

TIRE WITH VARIABLE WIDTH GROOVES

A tire includes a pair of sidewalls and a circumferential tread having a zigzag circumferential groove. The zigzag circumferential groove is defined by a groove bottom, a pair of groove walls, and a pair of groove edges defining an intersection between each groove wall and a top surface of the circumferential tread, wherein each of the groove edges smoothly widens and narrows along the groove. The circumferential tread has a first circumferential pitch with first and second circumferential pitch lengths. The first circumferential pitch includes a first zigzag circumferential groove segment and a second zigzag circumferential groove segment that form a first intersection angle. The second circumferential pitch includes a third zigzag circumferential groove segment and a fourth zigzag circumferential groove segment that form a second intersection angle different from the first intersection angle.

Tire with tread pattern having pre-selected variations in lug stiffnesses to improve tire noise

A tire is provided having a tire noise pitch sequence based on preferred characteristics of the tire noise generated by tire tread lug stiffness variations. The tire has preferred modulation characteristics and good level characteristics. Tire noise pitch sequences are provided for tires with different numbers of tread lugs. In one embodiment, the invention provides a tire having a body having a tread that has a pitch sequence; and the pitch sequence having five different size pitches with pitch ratios of 1.00, 1.10, 1.25, 1.4, and 1.50.

A tire includes a tread portion having a first land region provided with first axial grooves and a second land region provided with second axial grooves. The first axial grooves are arranged at intervals in a first arrangement over the entire tire circumference. In the first arrangement, in a pair of adjacent first axial grooves, a first end of one first axial groove is located at the same position in the tire circumferential direction as the second end of the other first axial groove. The second axial grooves are arranged at intervals in a second arrangement. The number of types of a second pitch of the second axial grooves in the second arrangement is greater than the number of types of a first pitch of the first axial grooves in the first arrangement.

Method and apparatus for improved tread splicing

A mold for molding a tire tread comprises a plurality of mold segments. Each of the plurality of mold segments includes an integer number of tread pitch repetitions. The plurality of mold segments are structured to be coupled to each other end-to-end so as to form the mold such that the mold includes an integer number of tread pitches. The mold also includes at least one mold end segment positioned on at least one end of the mold and has a mold end segment length shorter than a length of each of the plurality of mold segments.

A tire includes bead cores, a carcass layer extended across the bead cores, a belt layer on a radially outer side of the carcass layer, and a tread portion. The tire outer diameter OD (mm) satisfies 200OD660. The total tire width SW (mm) satisfies 100SW400. A groove area ratio Aa (%) of the tread portion satisfies 0.008Aa/OD0.150. When a region of 48(OD/SW){circumflex over ()}(1/5) (%) from a maximum ground contact width end portion on a tire inner side when the tire is mounted on a vehicle is defined as a tire inner region of the tread portion, a groove area ratio Ai (%) of the tire inner region and a groove area ratio Ao (%) of a tire outer region as a region other than the tire inner region have a relationship Ai>Ao.

Tire-tread constructions may incorporate multiple circumferential asymmetries. Prime-number values are used for (a) the number of pitches (where a pitch is an individual pattern that is repeated around the circumference of the tire tread); (b) the number of segments of the mold with which the overall tire tread is formed; (c) the number of variations in the lengths of pitches; or (d) the number of variations in the lengths of the segments.

In a pneumatic tire, an outer second land portion, a center land portion, and an inner second land portion have a road contact surface that partially bulges toward the outer side in a tire radial direction from a reference contour line of a tread profile in the cross-sectional view in the tire meridian direction. Additionally, a groove width Wg1 of an outer shoulder main groove, a groove width Wg3 of an inner center main groove, and a groove width Wg4 of an inner shoulder main groove have a relationship of Wg3<Wg1<Wg4, 1.05Wg1/Wg31.25, and 1.10Wg4/Wg31.30.

A TREAD BLOCK ARRANGEMENT FOR A TIRE OR FOR A TREAD BAND
20250222724 · 2025-07-10 · ·

A tread block arrangement for a tire or for a tread band includes tread blocks defining a first and a second boundary and a central line therein between, such that a first half is arranged on a first side of the central line. The first half includes a first primary pitch and a first secondary pitch, both extending in an inclined manner from the first boundary towards the central line. Both the first primary pitch and the first secondary pitch have at least four tread blocks arranged on a first region of the first half and separated from each other by grooves. A width of the first region is at most 80% of a width of the first half.

Surface texture for a tire tread

The surface state of the treads of tires cured in a vulcanization mold manufactured by 3D printing represents an optimal compromise between cost, appearance, and grip performance of the tire. The texture is formed by an arrangement of contiguous elements of pyramidal shape, each element of pyramidal shape having a base of parallelogram type positioned on the tread surface, and an apex situated at a normal distance H from the base in the range 0.15 mm to 0.5 mm.
