PNEUMATIC TIRE WITH OPTIMIZED CROWN AND BEAD ARCHITECTURES

The invention is a tyre comprising, in the central part of its crown, at least one undulation (51) of the radially outermost crown layer, having a radial amplitude A at least equal to 1 mm. At least one bead comprises, aside from the radial carcass layer and the bead wire, a radial reinforcing element that is such that the axial distance between the radial reinforcing element and the axially innermost carcass layer is at least equal to 1 mm and at most equal to 12 mm at the point of the radial reinforcing element that is situated 30 mm from the radially innermost point of the bead wire, for a better trade-off between the stiffness of the undulating crown and of the bead.

A pneumatic tire has a turned-up carcass ply and a non-turnup carcass ply. The turned-up carcass ply is turned up around bead cores in respective bead portions from the inside to outside of the tire so as to form a pair of turned up portions extending radially outwardly on the axially outsides of the respective bead cores, and a main portion extending between the turned up portions. The non-turnup carcass ply extends between the bead portions and terminates to have edges positioned on the axially outsides of the respective turned up portions. The bead portions are each provided on its outer surface with vent lines protruding therefrom and extending continuously in the tire circumferential direction. The vent lines include a radially outer vent line formed radially outside the edges of the non-turnup carcass ply, and a radially inner vent line formed radially inside the edges of the non-turnup carcass ply.

A ply of a carcass of a pneumatic radial tire includes a turn-up ply and a down ply. The turn-up ply includes: a main body portion disposed between a pair of bead cores; turn-up portions around the bead cores from an inside toward an outside in a tire width direction. The down ply extends up to an inside in a radial direction of the bead cores so as to cover the turn-up ply including the turn-up portions from an outside. A curvature is formed at either one of a down ply predetermined portion of the down ply, which covers a turn-up end portion of the turn-up portion of the down ply from an outside in the tire width direction, and a turn-up ply portion that covers the turn-up end portion of the turn-up portion in the main body portion of the turn-up ply from inside in the tire width direction.
