The rotary joint has a rotary hub, a non-rotating tube spindle at least partially disposed within the rotary hub, the tube spindle having a tube spindle hollow central chamber, an air seal provided between the rotary hub and the tube spindle, and a bearing assembly provided between the rotary hub and the tube spindle. The bearing assembly is positioned outboard of the air seal.

A system and method provide automatic vehicle tire air pressure monitoring, warning, and maintenance for a vehicle. The vehicle includes a controller, wheel rims having tires coupled to wheel hubs, an air compressor configured to inflate the tires, a pressure sensor contained within each wheel rim on a vehicle for measuring air pressure within a tire located on each wheel rim, the compressor coupled to the tire rims for providing needed pressurized air, the compressor, an air pressure line connecting the compressor to the wheel rims, a driver display providing a warning to a driver, and a controller. The controller reads an air pressure value of the air pressure within each tire, determines whether the air pressure values within each tire, when one or more of the air pressure values are below the pre-determined value, activates the compressor to add air to each of the four tires needing the air pressure, and provides the driver a visual status of the air pressure values within in each of the tires and a visual status of the compressor state.

The ventilation member 10 allows ventilation between the plurality of air chambers 20 when a predetermined condition is satisfied indicating that fluid is being injected into at least one of the plurality of air chambers 20 from outside of the tire, and the ventilation member 10 shuts off the ventilation between the plurality of air chambers 20 when the predetermined condition is not satisfied.

The valve includes a generally elongate hollow main body having an upper portion, a lower flex hose connector, a side tubular branch having a valve seat with a ball valve, an electronics housing having a battery, motor and a drive pin for the ball valve. The lower flex hose connector is adapted for connection to a flex hose or valve stem of the vehicle tire. The side branch branches from the main body and communicates with the hollow interior of the main body. The side branch has a plurality of air exit apertures at its periphery. The valve seat includes a base with an aperture therein through which the drive pin can extend through to engage the ball valve. The ball valve sits in the base and is biased in the valve seat via a spring to cover the aperture.
