SUSPENSION FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
20210008939 · 2021-01-14 · ·

A suspension for a wheel of an axle of a motor vehicle, comprising a wheel support, which is mounted on the vehicle body via a plurality of links and which has a first supporting element and a second supporting element. A vehicle wheel is mounted rotatably on the first supporting element and the first supporting element is rotatable relative to the second supporting element for transmitting a steering torque by a steering actuator arranged on the wheel support. The first supporting element is attached to the vehicle body by an upper wishbone, and the second supporting element is attached to the vehicle body exclusively by a lower wishbone.

A torsion spring arrangement for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle, including two torsion bars arranged coaxially one inside another and also a spring element, which is arranged axially-parallel to the two coaxial torsion bars and can be mounted on the motor vehicle body via a bearing position, wherein the radial outer hollow-cylindrical torsion bar can be mounted on the motor vehicle body side and is connected in a rotationally-fixed manner to an output lever fastenable on a wheel guiding element and the radial inner torsion bar is connected in a rotationally-fixed manner to the outer torsion bar and is connected in a rotationally-fixed manner via a coupling to the spring element.

Apparatus for shielding vehicle component

A shielding element for protecting at least one suspension and/or driveline component. The shielding element is connected to a suspension component. The suspension component extends in a first axial direction and includes a mounting portion at one end for mounting the suspension component to a vehicle. The suspension component further includes a second end for mounting the suspension component to a knuckle. The second mounting portion is capable of receiving a suspension mounting component, which may be or include a ball joint. The shielding element is located near the second mounting portion. The shielding element extends from a surface of the suspension component in a second direction different from the first direction. The portion of the protection element that extends in the second direction may protect at least one of the mounting point, the suspension mounting component, and the driveline component from contact with debris.

ESTIMATION OF A RIDE HEIGHT OF AN AXLE
20240203172 · 2024-06-20 · ·

A computer system comprising a processor device configured estimate a current ride height of a first axle of a vehicle is provided. The processor device is configured to obtain a variation in rotational speed of a first drive shaft. The first drive shaft is driven by a second drive shaft rotating a mechanical joint connected to both the first drive shaft and the second drive shaft. The processor device is configured to estimate the current ride height of the first axle based on the variation in rotational speed of the first drive shaft, an obtained initial ride height of the first axle, and an obtained condition signal. The condition signal indicates a second angle of the second drive shaft, or indicates a ride height of a second axle.

Vehicle suspension assembly, and methods of use and manufacture thereof

A rear portal trailing arm assembly for a vehicle rear suspension that includes a CV joint hub for coupling with a transaxle and a wheel hub for coupling with a rear wheel. A gear transfer case extends rearward from the CV joint hub to an axle case and functions similarly to a rear trailing arm. Forward mounts facilitate coupling the gear transfer case to the chassis such that the trailing arm assembly pivots vertically with respect to the chassis. A rearward mount facilitates coupling a strut with the gear transfer case to control the vertical motion of the rear wheel. Multiple gear assemblies are meshed within the gear transfer case. An axle is coupled with the meshed gear assemblies and housed within the axle case, such that torque applied to the CV joint hub is communicated to the wheel hub.
