A rod-end front suspension is provided for an off-road vehicle. The rod-end front suspension comprises a spindle assembly that is pivotally coupled with an upper suspension arm by way of a first rod-end joint and pivotally coupled with a lower suspension arm by way of a second rod-end joint. A steering rod-end joint coupled with the spindle assembly pivotally receives a steering rod. An axle assembly coupled with the spindle assembly conducts torque from a transaxle to a wheel coupled with the spindle assembly. Each of the first and second rod-end joints comprises a ball rotatably retained within a casing. The ball is fastened within a recess between parallel prongs extending from the spindle assembly. A threaded shank extending from the casing is threadably fixated with the suspension arm, such that the spindle assembly may be moved with respect to the casing and the suspension arm.

Socket assembly and method of making a socket assembly

The assembly includes a housing that has an inner bore and a ball stud that has a ball portion with opposing first and second hemispheres. A bearing assembly is disposed in the inner bore of the housing and presents a curved first bearing surface that is in slidable contact with only the first hemisphere of the ball portion. The ball socket assembly also includes a curved second bearing surface that is presented on a different component from the bearing assembly and is in slidable contact with the second hemisphere of the ball portion. The bearing assembly has a plastic portion and a plurality of metal segments. The metal segments collectively define the first bearing surface and are fixedly attached with the plastic portion. The plastic portion allows the metal segments to individually move relative to one another to seat against the ball portion of the ball stud.

FRONT SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY FOR A VEHICLE

A front suspension assembly for a vehicle having a connector adapted for connection to a front ground engaging member of the vehicle, a lower swing arm adapted for pivotal connection to a frame of the vehicle about a lower swing axis and being pivotally connected to the connector, an upper swing arm adapted for pivotal connection to the frame about an upper swing axis and being pivotally connected to the connector, the upper swing arm being above the lower swing arm, and a shock absorber assembly having a first end adapted for pivotal connection to the frame above the upper swing axis and a second end pivotally connected to the upper swing arm. The connector is pivotable relative to the lower and upper swing arms about a steering axis. A vehicle having the front suspension assembly is also disclosed.

BALL JOINT

A ball joint (10) capable of stabilizing sliding torque while suppressing cost increase is provided. The ball joint (10) includes a first lubricant (G1) interposed between a ball part (40) of a ball stud (14) and a bearing sheet (13). The ball joint (10) includes a second lubricant (G2) having a higher friction coefficient than the first lubricant (G1) and enclosed inside a dust cover (15).

Joint press
11530718 · 2022-12-20 · ·

A ball joint press for installation/removal of ball joints or bushings into/from suspension components of vehicles. In general, the press includes first and second frame portions, a spine/shaft coupling the first and second frame portions together, and actuators coupled to one of the first and second frame portions. The actuators are sized and spaced such that combined forces of the actuators minimize a bending moment (and bending stress) about the shaft. The actuators may also share a feed line that provides for equal pressure across both actuators. This reduces an axis of bending of the shaft, and causes the first and second frame portions to remain substantially parallel and the force in line with an axis of motion to install or remove the ball joint.

Chassis component for a wheel suspension and method for producing a chassis component

A chassis component for a wheel suspension which has a strut arrangement with at least one strut which is in the form of a profile component with an open cross-section. The at least one strut has a profile base and two wall sections that extend away from the profile base. An articulation point is provided, at least at one end of the strut, for receiving two joint components movably connected to one another, namely, a first joint component having a spherical joint body and a second joint component that rotatably and/or pivotably holds the joint body. In the area of the at least one articulation point, the wall sections have first and second joint accommodation apertures arranged opposite one another. A cylindrical sleeve is pressed in between the first joint accommodation aperture and the second joint accommodation aperture and keeps the opposite wall sections apart from one another.

Front Wheel Guide for a Single-Track Motor Vehicle
20220388596 · 2022-12-08 ·

A front wheel guide for a single-track motor vehicle has a telescopic fork, a fork bridge and a longitudinal control arm. The telescopic fork has two fork rods, which each have a lower fork tube and an upper fork tube which can be slid relative to the lower fork tube. The fork bridge extends in a transverse direction and interconnects the lower fork tubes of the fork rods. The longitudinal control arm, which is pivotably articulated to the vehicle, is connected to the fork bridge by way of a ball joint. The front wheel guide is characterized in that the longitudinal control arm is rotatably mounted on the ball joint by way of at least one rolling element bearing.
