Fall-protection system with monitoring system

A fall-protection system including a harness and a fall-protection apparatus with a lifeline bearing a connector configured to be connected to the harness; and, a fall-protection monitoring system with a base unit and with at least one sensor module configured to sense a condition of the connector and to communicate a signal indicative of the condition of the connector to the base unit.

Assembly to control or govern relative speed of movement between parts

Described herein is an assembly and methods of use thereof for controlling or governing the relative speed of motion between the assembly parts via eddy current formation. The assembly and methods also may minimize the number of parts required and may minimize the number of moving parts thereby increasing the mechanical durability of the assembly compared to art designs that may have more moving parts and greater part complexity.

Fall arrest device

A fall arrest device includes a braking device, a frame, and a rotating member connected to the frame. The rotating member includes a main body and a plurality of pawls which are pivotally connected to a mounting portion of the main body. Each of the pawls has an abutting portion, a pivot, and a body portion. The braking device has a plurality of abutted portions. When a rotation speed of the rotating member is greater than or equal to a predetermined rotation speed, the abutting portions abut against the abutted portions to stop a rotation of the rotating member. When the rotation speed of the rotating member is smaller than the predetermined rotation speed, the body portion of each of the pawls touches a periphery of the abutted portions and swings as an outer diameter of the abutted portions of the braking device changes.

Case or cradle for a fall arrest device

A case or support cradle (10) for a fall arrest device has a shape or configuration enabling rolling of the case or cradle (10) along an arcuate path. The rollable case or cradle (10) allows the fall arrest device received therein to smoothly follow a user's movements around a work site, thereby protecting the device from damage due to dragging or scraping along a floor surface.

Fall protection locking systems

A locking system is provided for fall protection. The locking system includes a housing. The housing defines a guide path through which the housing is slideably attached to a guide member. The locking system also includes a braking lever having a braking surface and an attachment end. The braking lever is configured to rotate so as to allow a braking surface to engage the guide member. The locking system further include a locking lever that is rotatably coupled to the braking lever. The locking lever is rotatable such that it rotates from an unlocked position to a locked position. In the unlocked position an activation end of the locking lever is positioned in a first location that is proximate to the attachment end and in the locked position the activation end is positioned in a second position distant to the attachment end.

An alarm device adapted for use with a self-retracting lanyard having a main body and a retractable line coupled to the main body. The alarm device includes a housing adapted to be engageable with the retractable line. The housing defines a detection axis, with the housing being adapted to allow at least a portion of the retractable line to be parallel to the detection axis when the housing is engaged with the retractable line. An inclinometer is coupled to the housing and is adapted to detect a magnitude of an angle between the detection axis and a vertical axis, and generate an electrical signal when the magnitude exceeds a preset threshold. An alarm element is in communication with the inclinometer to receive the electrical signal generated by the inclinometer. The alarm element is adapted to generate an alert signal in response to receipt of the electrical signal.

SELF-BRAKING PULLEY
20170361137 · 2017-12-21 ·

A self-braking pulley is disclosed for controlling a rate of extraction of a tether coupled with the pulley. The pulley comprises a pulley housing, a spool for receiving a tether, the spool being configured to rotate about a first axis, relative to the pulley housing, and a piston assembly comprising a chamber having a first and second chamber portion which are rotationally locked to the housing. The piston assembly further comprises a fluid disposed within the chamber, a piston which is arranged to move within the chamber along a second axis between the first and second chamber portions and at least one bore formed within the piston for fluidly coupling the first and second chamber portions. The pulley further comprises means for coupling rotational motion of the spool with reciprocating motion of the piston back and forth between the chamber portions, to cause the fluid to transfer between the chamber portions via the at least one bore as the spool rotates.

Anti-Falling Device with Rope Retractable System

An ant-falling device includes a shell, a first axle and a second axle supported therein, a buffer unit coupled at the first axle, and a reel spring for retracting the buffer unit. The buffer unit includes a rope reel and a driven gear. The second axle includes a driving gear, a first buckling member, and a handle that controls the driving gear to engage with the driven gear for retracting a rope via the rope reel. The shell includes a button, having a second buckling member, movably mounted thereon and being pushed by a spring. When the driving gear is engaged with the driven gear, the button is actuated to couple the second buckling member with the first buckling member to enable the rope being smoothly retracted. As the button is pressed, the first buckling member is released to disengage the driving gear with the driven gear.

Height rescue apparatus

There is provided a height rescue apparatus comprising a safety line (1) which is attached at (3) to a flexible elongate element (2) which has a lower tensile strength than the safety line 1 which is wound on a drum (9) which is part of a speed control means. A friction device (5) acts on a portion of the safety line (1) to reduce tension in said portion of the safety line by at least 50% in a full arrest situation. The drum (9) or the speed control means is held in a first position which prevents rotation of the drum and release means can be actuated after the fall arrest to allow the drum to provide a controlled lowering action.

LATCH ACTIVATION BETWEEN MEMBERS

Described herein is a system, method of use and Self Retracting Lifeline (SRL) apparatus using a system that governs a dynamic response between members causing a halt in relative motion between the members. Magnetic interactions, eddy current drag forces and centrifugal and/or inertial forces may provide various mechanisms of governing movement.
