An air sanitization device is provided that utilizes radiant catalytic ionization to produce purifying plasma comprising highly oxidative molecules that greatly decrease the amount of volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide and particulate matter within the HVAC system and the interior of transportation vehicle. The air sanitation device includes surfaces coated or impregnated with a noble alloy that comprises predominately titanium dioxide and a UV light source that directs UV light onto the surfaces of coated surfaces to generate, via the radiant catalytic ionization reaction the purifying plasma. Integration of the air sanitization device into a vehicle HVAC system greatly decreases irritant molecules within the vehicle.

Methods and systems for sanitizing air conditioned by a climate control system

A method for purifying air within a space is provided. The method includes a controller determining whether an ON signal is received. Upon determining that the ON signal is received, the controller instructs an air sanitizer of an air sanitization system to turn ON to purify an airflow passing through the air sanitization system, and instructs an air movement fan/blower to operate in order to direct the airflow into the space. Upon determining that the ON signal is not received, the controller instructs the air movement fan/blower and the air sanitizer to be OFF.

The air treatment systems include at least two filters that increase in ASHRAE 52.2 Standard MERV parameters in the direction of the flow of air. The filter positioned furthest downstream is at least a parameter 8 MERV ASHRAE Standard 52.2 filter. The air treatment systems include at least one ultraviolet (UV) light emitting device, and UV light reflective material. UV light emitted from the at least one UV light emitting device irradiates at least a portion of the plurality of filters. The plurality of filters, at least one ultraviolet (UV) light emitting device, and UV light reflective material provide a dose of UV light of at least 20 J/m.sup.2 to the air input into the transportation enclosure via the at least one input.

Disclosed herein is a photocatalytic oxidation device configured for integration within a vehicle ventilation system. The device includes a frame, an ultraviolet lamp, and a cell coated with a photocatalytic material. The lamp, when activated, causes the generation of oxidizers at the cell panel. Air is passable through apertures of the cell panel and thus may be moved through the device. The device is structurally configured and dimensionally optimized to provide effective photocatalytic activity within the vehicle ventilation system without overly restricting airflow.

Method of preventing air pollution in vehicle

A method of preventing air pollution in a vehicle is disclosed. Firstly, an out-car gas detection device, an in-car gas detection device and a purification device are provided to detect the air pollution and transmit a respective gas detection datum to a connection device. An in-car gas exchange system is provided for intelligently selecting and controlling a gas outside the vehicle to be introduced or not introduced into the inner space of the vehicle. The connection device receives and compares the gas detection data, so that the connection device selectively transmits a control instruction to the in-car gas exchange system and the purification device, and the air pollution in the inner space of the vehicle is exchanged and filtered, so as to provide clean, safe and breathable air.
