The hidden switch structure includes a first substrate having LEDs, a second substrate spaced apart from the first substrate and having a touch sensor, a molded article having a built-in prism and laminated on the second substrate, and the film, thereby increasing a degree of freedom of design and enhancing aesthetics.

Cosmetic integration of displays

A light-based output device may be used to display images, symbols, and other information for a user of a system such as a vehicle. A display may be formed from a display layer, a covering layer that covers the display layer, and components such as force and touch sensors and electronic shutters. Haptic feedback may be provided using actuators that are coupled to the covering layer. A movable button member may be used to press the covering layer outwardly within an opening, thereby creating a portion of the covering layer that protrudes from other portions of the covering layer. The button member may also be placed in a position in which the covering layer on the button member is flush with other portions of the covering layer. A touch sensor may be incorporated into the covering layer and may overlap a display and areas outside the display.

STEERING WHEEL ARRANGEMENT
20200122770 · 2020-04-23 ·

A steering wheel arrangement 1 is described comprising a steering wheel (2) having a rim (3) and a steering column 4 rotatably supported in the housing (5) and connected to the rim (3), wherein an electric machine (9, 13, 14) is operatively connected to the steering wheel (2). Such a steering wheel arrangement should be able to produce a force feedback to a traditional steering wheel in a reliable low-cost solution with a high functional safety rating. To this end electric machine (9, 13, 14) is integrated in the rim (3).

JOG DIAL USER INTERFACE DEVICE

A multiple input rotary dial user interface device and system is provided. The rotary dial user interface device may include a rotationally fixed touchpad, disposed within a center of a rotatable dial. Although fixed rotationally, the touchpad of the rotary dial user interface device may move in a linear axial direction, along the rotational axis, with or independently of the rotary dial. In addition to providing input by rotating the rotary dial, a user can provide input via touching the touchpad, actuating the touchpad, and/or actuating the rotary dial in the linear axial direction. In some cases, the rotary dial user interface device may employ the use of a static rotary encoder sensing rotation of an encoder wheel affixed to the rotary dial to determine momentum characteristics associated with the dial.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMOTIVE VARIABLE IMPEDANCE TOUCH SENSOR ARRAY

The present invention relates to automotive interface systems and methods. In one embodiment, an automotive interface system includes a steering wheel and an integrated interpolated variable impedance array that comprises a grid of sensing elements. The sensing elements are configured to power on simultaneously and to simultaneously generate multiple currents along multiple current paths in response to sensing a touch wherein the amount of current generated by a sensing element of the grid is directly proportional to the force applied by the touch. The automotive interface system also includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a processor communicatively coupled to the interpolated variable impedance array that are configured to receive the multiple currents along multiple current paths and determine a location, a duration, an area, and a force of the touch from the multiple currents along multiple current paths.

INTERIOR TRIM PART OF MOTOR VEHICLE
20200070722 · 2020-03-05 ·

The disclosure relates to an interior trim part of a motor vehicle which comprises: a shaped part made of glass or a glass-like material which is arranged on the side of the interior trim part facing the interior of the motor vehicle, a thin-film display device which as seen from the motor vehicle interior is arranged behind the shaped part or is integrated therein, and a control device for activating the thin-film display device, so that the latter transmits an image through the shaped part to the interior of the motor vehicle.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING AUXILIARY VEHICLE FUNCTIONS
20200062276 · 2020-02-27 ·

A system and method of controlling auxiliary vehicle functions via one or more touchpads on the vehicle steering wheel is disclosed. In response to receiving a user input at one of the touchpads, the vehicle performs a corresponding action depending on the region of the touchpad in which the input was received and the context in which the vehicle is currently operating. During operation, the vehicle displays, on a display screen of the vehicle (e.g., the HUD), a contextual control image indicating which actions will be performed in response to various inputs entered at one or more of the touch pads on the steering wheel. In this way, the steering wheel can accept an input for a variety of auxiliary functions.
