The present disclosure relates to a monitoring system for a vehicle, a vehicle comprising such a monitoring system, a method for monitoring such a vehicle and a computer program element for monitoring such a vehicle. The monitoring system comprises a display unit, an adjustment tool and a control unit. The control unit is configured to generate an energy flow map showing an energy flow from an energy storage system to at least one sub-system of the vehicle. The display unit is configured to display the energy flow map, to graphically emphasize the at least one sub-system and to display a current energy consumption of the sub-system. The control unit is further configured to adjust the energy consumption of the sub-system based on a user's input to the adjustment tool.

Driver Interface System

A driver interface system includes a steering wheel assembly and a display. The steering wheel assembly includes a variable-function input device. The variable-function input device includes a plurality of assignable functions and a present function being one of the plurality of assignable functions. The display is configured to display an image corresponding to the present function of the variable-function input device. The driver interface system may include a plurality of display modes, and in response to a change in display mode, the driver interface system may change the present function in the plurality of assignable functions. The steering wheel assembly may also include a touchpad configured to receive a handwritten input, and the display may be configured to display an image corresponding to the handwritten input.

A method and system for automatically taking an action upon detecting a fault in a vehicle. An artificial intelligence (AI) system disposed in or in communication with the vehicle assists the operator of the vehicle based on a knowledge of what steps are needed when a given fault is detected in the vehicle. Some such steps may be taken before the AI system interacts with the operator of the vehicle, thereby minimizing operator effort. The AI system identifies the fault; diagnoses a source, nature, and cause of the fault; retrieves and/or generates steps necessary to fix the problem causing the fault; automatically takes any appropriate initial steps to fix the problem causing the fault; alerts the operator of the vehicle to the fault; and communicates to the operator of the vehicle any appropriate remaining steps that the operator of vehicle should take to fix the problem causing the fault.

Embodiments are disclosed of an apparatus including a digital camera to capture video or a sequence of still images of a user's hand. One or more processors are coupled to the digital camera to process the video or the sequence of still images to produce a digital representation of the user's hand, to determine the gesture and motion of the user's hand from the digital representation, and to correlate the gesture or the gesture/motion combination to a user interface command. A user interface controller is coupled to receive the user interface command from the one or more processors. A display is coupled to the user interface controller. The user interface controller causes a set of one or more user interface controls to appear on the display. The user interface command selects or adjusts one or more of the set of displayed user interface controls, and motion of the selected user interface control tracks the motion of the user's hand in substantially real time.
