Contextual autonomous vehicle support through pictorial interaction
An autonomous vehicle including a sensor system that outputs a sensor signal indicative of a condition of the autonomous vehicle. The vehicle also includes a user interface device with a display. A computing system determines, based upon a profile of the passenger, that support is to be provided pictorially to the passenger when the support is provided to the passenger. The computing system further detects occurrence of an event that has been identified as potentially causing discomfort to the passenger. The computing system yet further sets a predefined pictorial support message defined in an account corresponding to the event maintained in a database prior to occurrence of the event as a pictorial support message to be presented to the passenger. The computing system additionally causes the display to present the pictorial support message, wherein the pictorial support message solicits feedback from the passenger of the autonomous vehicle.
Vehicle information display control device, and method for displaying automatic driving information
A vehicle information display control device includes: an automatic driving information obtaining unit that obtains automatic driving information including information indicating whether each of actuators of a vehicle is in a manual control mode or an automatic control mode; and a display controller that causes a display to display an image based on the automatic driving information. The display controller simultaneously displays a first image and a second image representing the manual control mode and the automatic control mode, respectively, of each of the actuators, and displays (i) the first image of an actuator in the manual control mode closer than the second image of the actuator in the manual control mode and (ii) the second image of an actuator in the automatic control mode closer than the first image of the actuator in the automatic control mode.

The interactive content is adjusted based on the predicted one or more autonomous vehicle actions, and the adjusted interactive content is presented within the autonomous vehicle.

Driving System for Automated Driving with a Steering Wheel Display
A driving system is operatable at least in a first automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and/or lateral control, and in a different second automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and/or lateral control. The driving system has a steering wheel display with luminous elements for illuminating the steering wheel, which can be operated in different illumination states that are distinguishable by the driver. The luminous elements may illuminate the steering wheel rim, and are typically integrated into the steering wheel rim. The driving system specifies which illumination state of the different illumination states the steering wheel display has. The driving system specifies that, during operation of the driving system in the first driving mode, the steering wheel display is illuminated in a first illumination state. During operation of the driving system in the second driving mode, the steering wheel display is illuminated in a second illumination state that can be distinguished from the first illumination state by the driver.

The method can include obtaining measurements from a plurality of sensors positioned on the vehicle, obtaining a measurement from a vehicle accelerometer operative to determine an inclination of the vehicle, determining a position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining a slung load of the load suspended from the vehicle, using the determined slung load and the determined position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining tipping moments acting on the vehicle, determining righting moments acting on the vehicle and determining a tipping stability based on the determined tipping moments and determined righting moments.
Windshield touch and clean system
A cleaning device for a surface, such as a windshield of a vehicle, has a housing that holds a spray bar, rotatable brush and a wiper blade. An engagement mechanism moves spray bar, the brush, and the wiper blade out from a disengaged position within the housing to an engaged position outside the housing so that they can be used to clean, brush, and dry the surface. After the spray bar, brush, and wiper blade are used to, respectively, clean, brush, and dry the surface, the engagement mechanism then moves the spray bar, the brush, and the wiper blade to a disengaged position within the housing.
Method for Operating a Motor Vehicle Having a Plurality of Driver Assistance Systems
A method is disclosed for operating a motor vehicle having a plurality of driver assistance systems, wherein the method includes setting, via an operator interface of the motor vehicle, an assistance degree parameter, which indicates the extent to which support for a driver by the driver assistance systems is desired. The method also includes setting, via the operator interface of the motor vehicle, at least one additional parameter, which is related to the driving operation of the motor vehicle. The method additionally includes specifying, by a processing device of the motor vehicle, at least one operating parameter for each driver assistance system, in accordance with which operating parameter the driver assistance system is operated, as a function of the assistance degree parameter and the additional parameter(s). A motor vehicle is also disclosed that performs the method.
VEHICLE DRIVING MODE SAFETY SYSTEM
Methods, systems, and apparatus for automatically regulating activation of one or more driving modes of a vehicle. The system includes a steering wheel sensor connected to a steering wheel and configured to detect whether two hands of a driver are in contact with the steering wheel. The system, includes a driving mode button configured to receive an indication from the driver to activate a driving mode, the driving mode adjusting at least one vehicle performance setting including a throttle sensitivity setting, a shift control setting, a traction control setting, or a stability control setting. The system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to adjust the at least one vehicle performance setting in response to receiving the indication from the driver to activate the driving mode and receiving an indication from the steering wheel sensor that the two hands of the driver are in contact with the steering wheel.
