Disclosed is a vehicle seat (1) comprising a seat cushion (2) and a seat back (4), wherein the seat cushion and the seat back are comprised of: a frame structure (8) to be fixed to the vehicle body; and a seating member (10) supported by the frame structure having an elastic deformation property and a vibration damping property and allow an occupant to be seated therein, and wherein the vehicle seat satisfies the following relationship: D.sub.S/D.sub.F20, where D.sub.S denotes a deformation amount of the seating member itself in a situation where a load W is applied at a position X.sub.S of the seating member, and D.sub.F denotes a displacement of a position X.sub.F of the frame structure corresponding to the position X.sub.S, in a situation where the frame structure is fixed to the vehicle body, and the given load W is applied at the position X.sub.F.

Articulating flexmat seat suspension

A vehicle seating assembly includes a frame and an articulating flexmat assembly operably coupled with the frame. The articulating flexmat assembly includes an upper flexmat extending from a first side of the frame to a second side of the frame and a lower flexmat extending from the first side of the frame to the second side of the frame. The upper flexmat includes an upper static portion and an upper dynamic portion disposed above the upper static portion and adjustable by upper linear actuators that draw the upper dynamic portion toward the upper static portion to arc the upper flexmat outward. The lower flexmat includes a lower static portion adjacent to the upper static portion and a lower dynamic portion disposed below the lower static portion and adjustable by lower linear actuators that draw the lower dynamic portion toward the lower static portion to arc the lower flexmat outward.

CAR SEAT AND CONNECTION SYSTEM

Embodiments of a car seat include an outer protective shell, an inner seat, a suspension system connecting and permitting relative movement between the inner seat and the outer protective shell. The suspension system may include a plurality of plastically deformable suspension elements. Also, embodiments of a car seat system include a frame constructed to couple to a vehicle seat. The frame and/or the car seat may have a plastically deformable energy absorbing element extending outwardly to absorb energy, such as from a side impact. The frame may include tubular members filled with reinforcing material. The frame may have a connection arrangement with the car seat to restrict connection of the car seat so that it can only be installed in predefined orientations relative to the frame. The car seat may have a harness that includes a bolster panel or straps to limit movement of an occupant in the car seat.
