Linkage extension system with damped motion

A linkage extension system and method for holding an extendable portion of a seat in a desired position while the extendable portion translates from a retracted to an extended position and any intermediate position. A coupled damper produces a holding force to counter gravity or other forces which cause the translation of the seat extension away from a desired position. The linkage extension system is self-powered and operates within the enclosed portion of the seat.

Vertically adjustable head restraint

A head restraint assembly includes a base portion including a first post portion extending in a vertical direction. The assembly also includes a head restraint operatively coupled to the base portion. The assembly further includes a lock slide manually moveable between a locked condition and an unlocked condition, the locked condition disposing a portion of the lock slide within one of a plurality of recesses of the first post portion, the unlocked condition defined by removal of the lock slide from the plurality of recesses to allow adjustment of the head restraint in the vertical direction.

Headrest support assembly

A headrest support assembly is provided that comprises a support member flexible between neutral and loaded states and having first and second ends with a channel extending therebetween. A cable is slidably received in the channel between first and second positions. The cable has first and second ends, and the cable moves from the first position to the second position when the support member moves from the neutral state to the loaded state.

Vehicle head restraint with movement mechanism

A head restraint is provided for a seat for use with a motor vehicle. The head restraint includes a base configured to be attached to the seat, and a main portion configured to be positioned between the base and a head of a seat occupant when the base is attached to the seat and the seat is mounted in the vehicle. The head restraint further includes at least one movement mechanism associated with at least one of the base and the main portion and configured to move at least part of the main portion laterally or upwardly and downwardly relative to the base.

Headrest-integrated entertainment system

A headrest system and a method of providing the same is disclosed. The headrest system comprises a head support unit adaptable onto a vehicle seat, a fabric member configured to envelope at least a portion of the head support unit, and a plurality of anchor members configured to retain the fabric member in a substantially staple-free fashion. The head support unit includes a pillow portion defining a head supporting surface. The fabric member includes a central portion configured to cover the head supporting surface, and a fringe portion integrally connected around the central portion. The anchor members are arranged at locations opposite to the head supporting surface, and are configured to engage selective parts of the fringe portion, so as to as to stretch the central portion substantially conformally over the head support surface of the pillow portion and substantially retain the fabric member on the head support unit.

A headrest including a resilient headrest structure. The resilient headrest structure has a resilient headrest structure surface. The resilient headrest structure surface defines a non-planar contour, in particular an arcuate contour, when the resilient headrest structure is fixed between two points. The resilient headrest surface defines a planar contour when the resilient headrest structure is released. Due to the material properties of the resilient headrest structure, the resilient headrest structure surface automatically returns to the planar contour from the non-planar contour when the resilient headrest structure is released.
