An adjustable-length handle assembly for a vehicle includes a retractor and a flexible web disposed to deploy from and retract into the retractor. A gripping portion is disposed at a distal end of the flexible web. The assembly may further include a flexible web guide roller having a brake mechanism, to allow adjusting the handle assembly to a desired position.

A vehicle body structure having a cargo structure, a retractable step and a handle assembly. The cargo structure has a floor, a first side wall and a tailgate. The retractable step is installed to the cargo structure beneath the floor and the first side wall and adjacent to the tailgate. The handle assembly has a base and a grip handle extending from the base. The base is attached to an upright surface of the first side wall. The base is shaped and contoured such that the grip handle is positioned adjacent to and spaced apart from an upper surface of the first side wall within the cargo area above the floor and above the step. An individual using the step to enter the cargo area grabs the grip handle for assistance in stepping up into the cargo area.

An assist grip includes a retainer having a secured part secured to an attachment surface, and a pair of shaft-supporting parts; and a grip body that has a pair of recessed parts provided at both ends, a guide groove through which the shaft-supporting parts can slide and which is formed in at least one of two inside surfaces facing each other, and bearing holes provided in both inside surfaces; the grip body being turned about the shaft-supporting parts as a fulcrum to switch between a storage position and a usage position. The guide groove extends from the open edges of the recessed parts toward the inner bottom surface, and at least one bearing hole of both inside surfaces has an elastic locking piece positioned in a bearing hole or in the terminal end of the guide groove, the piece matingly or retainingly locking an end part of a shaft-supporting part.

A tailgate subassembly for a vehicle includes a tailgate and a flexible elongated pulling element. In an open position of the tailgate, the flexible elongated pulling element extends downwardly at least partially from a starting region on an inner face of the tailgate and on the end side comprises a grip portion for a user. In order to provide improved means for closing a tailgate of a vehicle, the elongated pulling element is coupled to a retraction device which is designed to pull up the grip portion in the direction of the starting region when the tailgate is moved into a closed position.

A vehicle headliner assembly includes a headliner, a handle, a housing, and a pivotable coupling. The pivotable coupling defines an axis. The handle and the housing are operably coupled to the pivotable coupling. The handle is selectively rotatable about the pivotable coupling from a stowed position to a deployed position. The housing is selectively rotatable about the pivotable coupling from a closed position to an open position.

A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a base comprising an opening and first and second layers extending through the opening. The first and second layers may form a structure extending through the opening to an extended position. The first layer may engage the second layer to form the structure. The first layer may separate from the second layer when retracted into the base. The structure may comprise a protrusion formed by the first layer with the second layer to move from a retracted position to the extended position. The protrusion may extend beyond the base by a first distance when the protrusion is retracted and by a second distance greater than the first when the protrusion is extended. The second layer may comprise a bottom; the first layer may comprise a top to couple to the bottom to form the structure as the structure extends.

A grab handle assembly is provided for a motor vehicle. That grab handle assembly includes a grab handle, a reel, a line wound on the reel and an anchor point for the line when the line is extended from the reel.

According to some embodiments, an assembly configured to be removably secured to an exposed structural component of a vehicle (e.g., a rollbar) comprises a cover assembly configured to secure to the exposed structural component of the vehicle, a hand grip configured to pass through at least a portion of the cover assembly and hand below the cover assembly, wherein the hand grip is configured to be grasped by a user, and at least one tool-receiving member configured to secure to the cover assembly.

A damper is formed by a housing member wherein an outer cylinder portion and an inner cylinder portion that are cylindrically formed are concentrically disposed, and respective lower ends are connected to each other at a bottom portion, and at an upper end of the outer cylinder portion, an open end portion is formed, and a groove portion is formed on an inner periphery; and a lid member provided with a rotor inserted from the open end portion, and housed in the housing member, and formed with a projection portion engaging the groove portion. A thin wall portion which is thinner than the outer cylinder portion is formed in a vicinity of a groove portion side in the outer cylinder portion.

A translatable assist handle system for a vehicle includes a guide track having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion having a guide surface that extends around at least a portion of a vehicle opening between the first end and the second end. A translatable assist handle including a guide element is disposed in the guide track. The translatable assist handle is selectively positionable along the guide track providing an adjustable hand hold aiding a passenger to ingress and egress from the vehicle.
