A liftgate is provided with a modular sensor housing that spans a substantial portion of the width of the liftgate. The sensor housing has a plurality of rearward-facing apertures adapted to permit the cameras and/or proximity sensors from the vehicle to see through the housing. The sensor housing incorporates a plurality of sensor mounting brackets specifically adapted to the particular configuration of the vehicle sensors. The modular sensor housing enables a liftgate to be installed without disabling the rearview camera and proximity sensors.

Offset shear plate

A reinforcement plate is assembled inside a D-pillar of a pick-up truck to prevent twisting or matchbox deflection of the D-pillar when an accessory, such as a hydraulic lift gate, is assembled inside the tailgate opening of the pick-up truck. The plate includes a horizontal planar portion that is attached by a front flange to a front wall of the D-pillar. An outer flange connects the plate to an outer wall of the D-pillar. An offset flange is secured to a rear cross member by fasteners inside the D-pillar.

A portable tailgate lift platform for lifting and lowering heavy items or home appliances to and from pickup truck cargo bed that is mounted on the open truck tailgate and secured in place by attachment to the anchor points supplied in the truck cargo bed. Does not require any truck alteration. The lift platform operation between ground and tailgate level is by manual or electric winch provided with the lift. Mounting or removal for storage of the tailgate lift platform is easily done by a single person. For transportation to new location the lift is simply rotated from vertical position at the end of the tailgate and pushed into truck cargo bed. Storage in vertical position next to a wall requires minimal space with loading platform folded upright.
