The reinforcement may comprise a pattern of threads (e.g. top stitch to secure the door and bottom stitch). The reinforcement may comprise threads sewn within and/or pressed into a surface of a substrate/panel. The top stitch thread weight may be greater than that of the bottom stitch. The top stitch may comprise a retaining thread/hinge; the bottom stitch may separate upon deployment. The reinforcement may comprise KEVLAR, aramid, nylon, polyester, thread, ceramic fibers, polymeric fibers, synthetic fibers, etc. The structural substrate may comprise a fiber panel, compression-formed component, generally rigid fiber mat, etc. The component may be formed by injecting resin into a mold to form an ancillary component of a composite structure.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FASTENING AND LOCATING ONE VEHICLE COMPONENT RELATIVE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE COMPONENT WITHOUT USING MECHANICAL FASTENERS
A system includes a first vehicle component and a second vehicle component. The first vehicle component includes a first panel, a T-shaped projection protruding from a mating surface of the first panel, and a locking projection protruding from the mating surface of the first panel. The second vehicle component includes a second panel and a pair of ramped ribs projecting from a non-mating surface of the second panel. The second panel defines a slot that extends through the non-mating surface thereof. The slot includes a first portion having a first width and a second portion having a second width that is less than the first width. The ramped ribs are disposed on opposite sides of the second portion of the slot. The first vehicle component is configured to be fastened to the second vehicle component and located relative to the second vehicle component.
Electronic Device
An electronic device includes a display carrier, a layer of transparent castable polymer material, and a display. The display carrier has an opening and an outer side. The layer of polymer material is on the outer side of the display carrier. The display is arranged within or beneath the aperture of the display carrier. The outer side of the display carrier and the aperture are flooded or over-molded with the polymer material.
Strengthened glass articles exhibiting improved headform impact performance and automotive interior systems incorporating the same
Embodiments of this disclosuer pertain to glass articles that comprise a maximum CS magnitude (CS.sub.max) of about 900 MPa or greater, a CS magnitude of 750 MPa or greater at a depth of about 5 micrometers, and a maximum CT magnitude (CT.sub.max) disposed at a depth from the first major surface in a range from about 0.25 t to about 0.75 t. Embodiments of a curved glass article are also disclosed. In one or more embodiments, such curved glass articles include the first major concave surface comprising a maximum radius of curvature of about 100 mm or greater and a first maximum CS value (CS.sub.max1) greater than about 800 MPa, a second major convex surface comprising a second maximum CS value (CS.sub.max2), wherein the CS.sub.max2 is less than CS.sub.max1. Embodiments of an automotive interior system including such curved glass articles and methods of making glass articles are also disclosed.
Vehicle interior component
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component provides a user interface with a display/image when illuminated. The component comprises a composite structure with a cover material providing a light-transmissive effect and a surface providing a surface effect (grain/wood texture) visible when the display is off. The image is presented at the cover surface when the display is on. The cover may comprise a wood veneer with backing (paper, fiber material, etc.). The composite structure may comprise a mask layer and a lens, filter, colorant, etc. The user interface may include a sensor. The light source may comprise a display panel, LED/array, module, etc. The image is visible at the user interface when display functionality is in operation; when display functionality is not in operation the surface effect of the cover (e.g. wood texture) is visible with substantially no indication of display functionality.
COLD-FORMED GLASS ARTICLE WITH THERMALLY MATCHED SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR FORMING THE SAME
A glass article is provided with a cover glass sheet having first and second major surfaces. The second major surface has a first region with a first curve of a first radius of curvature, and a second region that is different than the first region. A frame's support surface has a third region of a first frame material and a fourth region of a different, second frame material. The second major surface faces the support, and the third region includes a second curve that complements the first curve while the fourth region complements the second region. A first adhesive is between the third region and the first region. A second adhesive is disposed between the fourth region and the second region. The first adhesive has a first Youngs modulus, and the second adhesive comprising a second Youngs modulus that is different than the first Youngs modulus.
CONDUCTIVE MULTILAYER PANEL FOR THE COCKPIT OF VEHICLES, IN PARTICULAR MOTOR VEHICLES
A panel intended for the cockpit of a vehicle is conductive so that a large number of electrical and electronic devices can be installed inside the cockpit. The panel has a structure consisting of a plurality of layers of substantially equal shape and size, superimposed and firmly coupled to one another. One of the layers consists of a flexible printed circuit board that extends substantially over the entire surface of the panel, or at least over a substantial portion thereof, and that is provided with electrical connectors arranged at positions where the electrical and electronic devices associated with the dashboard are to be subsequently installed. Wired connections of electrical and electronic devices associated with the dashboard are eliminated. This entails a considerable simplification when making electrical connections to these electrical and electronic devices, as well as in the case of subsequent maintenance and/or repair work.
TRIM ELEMENT COMPRISING TWO INDEPENDENT BACKLIT AREAS
A trim element having a coating layer defining an outer surface and an inner surface, the coating layer including at least two distinct backlit pattern areas separated by at least one opaque area preventing the passage of light from the inner surface to the outer surface. The trim element includes at least one light source for each backlit pattern area, the light source being fixed on the inner surface of the coating layer facing an opaque area while being spaced apart from the corresponding backlit pattern area. The trim element has one light guide per backlit pattern area.
Vehicle interior panel and method of manufacturing same
A vehicle interior panel such as an instrument panel includes a substrate having a thickness between 0.5 mm and 2.25 mm, inclusive, a decorative layer, and an intermediate layer located between the substrate and the decorative layer. A post-form warpage of the substrate is less than 15 mm at an edge region of the substrate. A serpentine rib located near the edge region helps impart structural rigidity to the panel during a foaming process to achieve an adequate degree of post-form warpage.
