FLOOR-MOUNTED OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A restraint system for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having a floor and a cabin with a floor for the occupant includes an airbag. The airbag has a stored condition on the vehicle floor and is inflatable to a deployed condition aligned with the occupant in a forward-rearward direction of the vehicle. The airbag is configured to utilize the vehicle floor as a reaction surface for restraining the movement of the airbag in response to occupant penetration into the airbag.
Airbag device
An airbag includes a bag body, an exhaust portion which has an exhaust hole, and a connecting member which is connected to the exhaust portion by the root portion inside the bag body. The bag body includes a main inflatable portion that includes a first and a second side walls which are opposed in a left and right direction at airbag deployment, and a protruding inflatable portion that protrudes partially rearward from a first end region in the left and right direction of an upper region of a rear portion of the main inflatable portion as deployed. The exhaust portion is formed in the first side wall of the main inflatable portion on a side the protruding inflatable portion is disposed, and is positioned farther downward than an apex of the protruding inflatable portion, as viewed from a side of the airbag as deployed.
Airbag device for a passenger seat
An airbag body includes, in a protection region disposed in the rear portion, a front-collision arresting plane, an oblique-collision arresting plane, and an arresting recess that is recessed forward between the front-collision arresting plane and oblique-collision arresting plane. The airbag body further internally includes a tether that pulls a flat surfaced portion of the passenger protection region and forms the arresting recess out of the flat surfaced portion at airbag deployment. The tether includes a front-rear connecting region that connects a leading end of the arresting recess to the center of a front end portion of the airbag body, and a sideways connecting region that connects the leading end of the arresting recess to a side wall of the airbag body near the oblique-collision arresting plane. The joint of the sideways connecting region to the side wall is disposed farther forward than the leading end of the arresting recess.
Seat airbag device for vehicle and method of controlling operation thereof
A seat airbag apparatus for a vehicle and a method of controlling the operation thereof, includes side cushions deployed from the seatback, front cushions configured to be deployed from the side cushions, and inflators for the side cushions and inflators for the front cushions. The deployment operation of the side cushions and the deployment operation of the front cushions are respectively controlled depending on a normal seating mode and a relax mode of an occupant and a side collision and a front collision of the vehicle.
PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEVICE
A passenger seat airbag device includes an airbag including a front collision restraining surface, and an oblique collision restraining portion including a protruding portion in which a surface is set as an oblique collision restraining surface, and a restraining recess portion whose facing surfaces are able to restrain the head of the occupant. The rear wall main portion has the front collision restraining surface. The rear wall end edge portion has the oblique collision restraining surface. The upper edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the upper wall portion. The lower edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the lower wall portion. An entire edge of the separation edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the rear edge side portion.
AIRBAG FOR RESTRAINING A VEHICLE OCCUPANT, METHOD FOR THE PROUCTION THEREOF, AND AIRBAG MODULE COMPRISING SUCH AN AIRBAG
The invention relates to an airbag (10) for restraining a vehicle occupant (12) in an automotive vehicle, comprising an inflatable cushion portion (20) for damping an occupant impact and two inflatable tube portions (22) laterally opposed in the mounted state of the airbag (10) which are arranged on the occupant side on the cushion portion (20), wherein the tube portions (22) are connected to each other by a slide layer (24) arranged on the occupant side on the cushion portion (20) and are laterally movable at least in portions relative to the cushion portion (20). Furthermore, the invention also relates to a method for manufacturing an airbag (10) as well as an airbag module (18) comprising said airbag (10).
Selective deployment of deflectors for an airbag
A restraint system for a vehicle includes an instrument panel and an airbag supported by the instrument panel. The restraint system includes a right deflector supported by the instrument panel adjacent the airbag. The right deflector is deployable between a retracted position and a deployed position. The restraint system includes a left deflector supported by the instrument panel adjacent the airbag opposite the right deflector in a cross-vehicle direction. The left deflector is deployable between a retracted position and a deployed position. The restraint system includes a first pyrotechnic device coupled to the right deflector and a second pyrotechnic device coupled to the left deflector.
Vehicle seat assembly
A seat includes a seat back and an airbag mounted to the seat back. A seatbelt webbing has a shoulder band and a lap band. The airbag is inflatable to an inflated position between the seat back and the shoulder band. When the airbag is inflated, the airbag exerts a force on the shoulder band to loosen the shoulder band across a chest of the occupant, e.g., during an angular impact in which the momentum of the occupant urges the shoulder and chest of the occupant to turn into the shoulder belt.
Passenger protection device having front airbag and window airbag
A passenger protection device includes: a front airbag configured to inflate so as to cover a front of the passenger; a front inflator configured to supply the inflation gas to the front airbag; a window airbag accommodated with being folded at an upper edge-side of a window arranged at a lateral side of the passenger and configured to inflate so as to cover a vehicle interior-side of the window; and a window airbag inflator configured to supply the inflation gas to the window airbag. The window airbag includes a bag-adjacent inflation part configured to cover a side of a head of the passenger received by the front airbag, and an activation start timing of the window airbag inflator is set within a range of 20 ms to 5 ms from a time at which the front airbag having completely inflated starts to receive the passenger.
