AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag device includes an airbag stored in a storage part provided in front of an occupant seated on a seat, wherein: the airbag has an occupant protecting section configured to protect the occupant on a rear surface at the time of completion of inflation; the occupant protecting section includes: an upper half body restraining surface configured to receive the upper half body of the occupant; and a head receiving section formed in a left region and a right region of a center in a left-right direction of the occupant protecting section to protrude rearward from the upper half body restraining surface, in a region above the upper half body restraining surface; and the head receiving section is configured so that a part between a left restraining surface and a right restraining surface upon completion of inflation is continued from the upper half body restraining surface.
Vehicle body structure with impact absorbing part
A vehicle body structure includes a frame impact absorbing part extending from the side of a left front side frame in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. The frame impact absorbing part includes first and second frame bending members that form a frame tubular body, upper and lower frame flanges projecting outward from the frame tubular body, upper and lower first fragile portions that divide the frame flanges in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, and a plurality of frame rigid portions formed at a rear end of the frame tubular body on the rear side of the vehicle body with respect to the first fragile portions.
Curtain airbag with offset countermeasure
A curtain airbag (10A-10F) for a vehicle (2) has an inflatable cushion. The cushion (10A-10F) has one or more side inflatable portions extending along one side of the interior of the vehicle (2) adjacent the interior door or doors on the one side and an inflatable frontal portion (12) projecting inwardly directionally toward the interior of the vehicle positioned in front of a seated occupant (1) and between the occupant (1) and an instrument panel or dash of the vehicle. Preferably, the inflatable frontal portion (12) is positioned between the occupant (1) and the steering wheel (4) wherein the frontal portion (12) laterally juts into the passenger compartment forming an inflatable barrier between a front pillar (60) of the vehicle (2) and the occupant (1).
Vehicle body front section structure
A vehicle body front section structure includes a front side member, an outer side frame member, a linking member, and a reinforcing structure. The outer side frame member is disposed separated from the front side member at a vehicle width direction outer side, has a vehicle front-rear direction rear end connected to an apron section or to a front pillar, and has a vehicle front-rear direction front end side overlapping with a vehicle front-rear direction front end side of the front side member in side view. The linking member links the vehicle front-rear direction front end side of the front side member and the vehicle front-rear direction front end side of the outer side frame member, and is input with a collision load. The reinforcing structure reinforces the outer side frame member at a portion of the outer side frame member overlapping with the front side member in side view.
Multi-chambered airbag with controlled pressure differentials
The present disclosure relates to a multi-chambered airbag system employing the use of baffle vents to achieve pressure differentials between the different chambers and methods of using the same.
AIRBAG DEVICE FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT
An airbag device for a front passenger seat includes a front passenger seat airbag main body, a center airbag portion, an actuator and a control section. The actuator is configured to switch a strap between a first state and a second state. In the first state, the center airbag portion is retained in a folded state. In the second state, the other end portion of the strap is released and the center airbag portion is allowed to inflate and expand. The control section sets the actuator to the first state when there is a full overlap frontal collision, and sets the actuator to the second state when there is a collision that is any of an oblique collision against a driver seat side of a vehicle front portion or a small overlap collision.
Multi-chambered airbag with controlled pressure differentials
The present disclosure relates to a multi-chambered airbag system employing the use of baffle vents to achieve pressure differentials between the different chambers and methods of using the same.
VEHICLE OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE
A vehicle occupant protection device includes: an airbag that is configured to be stowed in a headrest, to receive a gas supply and is formed as a single bag body that, in an inflated and expanded state, includes a front inflation portion configured to be disposed at the front in a seat front-rear direction relative to a head of a vehicle occupant, and a pair of side inflation portions configured to be disposed at both sides in a seat width direction relative to the head of the vehicle occupant; an inflator that is fixed to an upper portion of a seatback frame in an attitude with a long dimension of the inflator in the seat width direction, the upper portion of the seatback frame extending in the seat width direction; and a fluid communication structure that communicates between the inflator and the airbag to allow a flow of gas.
Systems and Methods for Detecting a Collision
A method for setting activation parameters for a vehicle safety system of a subject vehicle. The method includes determining whether a collision between a subject vehicle and an object is imminent or in progress. Whether the collision will be a front small overlap collision is determined, and activation parameters of a vehicle safety system are set in a front small overlap collision mode if the collision is determined to be a front small overlap collision.
Air Bag Device
An airbag device capable of restraining an obliquely forward movement of an occupant. The airbag device includes: an inflator which is operated by a signal from a sensor that detects a collision and which discharges expansion gas; to deploy and expand the airbags. The airbags include: a first airbag which deploys to the front of an occupant for restraining a forward movement of the occupant; and a second airbag which is joined to a side part of the first airbag on a cabin center side and restrains an obliquely forward movement of the occupant. The collision sensor is capable of discriminating between a first collision mode which is not accompanied by rotation of the vehicle and a second collision mode which is accompanied by a rotation of the vehicle in a horizontal plane, and the second airbag is deployed only when the second collision mode occurs.
