LATERAL SHOCK ABSORBER AND CHILD CAR SAFETY SEAT THEREWITH
A lateral shock absorber is provided and includes a protective fender and a locking mechanism. The protective fender is pivotally switchable between a folded state and an unfolded state relative to a base of a child car safety seat. The locking mechanism includes a locking assembly and an abutting block. The locking assembly is for engaging with the protective fender to restrain the protective fender from moving. The abutting block is pressed downwardly by a seat body of the child car safety seat when the seat body is installed on the base, and the locking assembly is driven by the abutting block to disengage from the protective fender when the abutting block is pressed downwardly by the seat body. Besides, a child car safety seat having the aforementioned lateral shock absorber is also provided.
DETECTION OF OCCUPANT SIZE AND POSE WITH A VEHICLE INTERIOR CAMERA
A method and system for determining a size and pose of an occupant (305, 310, 315) within a vehicle interior. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving one or more images (FIG. 3) of a vehicle interior from a camera (114). The method also includes classifying interior regions (130, 132, 134, 136, 138) of the vehicle interior (100) in the one or more images. The method also includes identifying an occupant (305, 310, 315) in the one or more images based on the classification of the interior regions (130, 132, 134, 136, 138) of the vehicle interior (100). The method also includes determining a size range of the occupant (305, 310, 315) based on the classification (404) of the interior regions of the vehicle interior (100). The method also includes determining a pose of the occupant (305, 310, 315) based on the classification (404) of the interior regions of the vehicle interior (100). The method also includes controlling one or more vehicle systems (122, 124, 126, 128) based on the size and the pose of the occupant (305, 310, 315).
AIRBAG DEVICE FOR A FRONT PASSENGER SEAT
An airbag includes a main inflatable section which includes a front-collision arresting face at the rear plane as deployed, a protruding inflatable section which includes an oblique-collision arresting face, and an arresting recess formed between the front-collision arresting face and oblique-collision arresting face. The airbag internally includes a recess-pulling tether which joints the leading end of the arresting recess and a front end portion of the airbag as deployed, and a regulating tether which extends from the leading end of the arresting recess towards a far-side wall of the protruding inflatable section which is opposed to the oblique-collision arresting face. A joint position of the regulating tether to the far-side wall is such a position that would produce a pulling force which pulls the protruding inflatable section towards the rear plane of the main inflatable section when the leading end of the arresting recess moves forward at catching a passenger.
Airbag device and passenger protection device
An airbag device includes an airbag that is supplied with gas during a vehicle collision, and that inflates and deploys from a rear side of a vehicle seat toward a front side via an upper side thereof. In an inflated and deployed state the airbag includes a pair of front-rear chambers extending in a front-rear direction via left and right sides of the head of a passenger, and an airbag body in communication with the pair of front-rear chambers, that is disposed at a front side of the passenger between the pair of front-rear chambers, and that is compression deformed in a state supported by the pair of front-rear chambers during restraint of the passenger. The airbag is configured such that entry of at least the head of the passenger into gaps between the front-rear chambers and the airbag body is suppressed during a latter half of restraining the passenger.

An airbag device includes an airbag that is supplied with gas generated by an inflator during a vehicle collision and that inflates and deploys from a rear side of a vehicle seat toward a front side via an upper side. In an inflated and deployed state, the airbag includes a pair of front-rear chambers extending in a seat front-rear direction via left and right sides of a head of a passenger, an airbag body that is in communication with the pair of front-rear chambers and that is disposed at a front side of the passenger between the pair of front-rear chambers, and a pair of rear tethers including one-end portions attached to the airbag body and other-end portions attached to a seatback of the vehicle seat. An airbag device including an airbag that inflates and deploys from a seat rear side of a vehicle seat toward a seat front side via a seat upper side. In an inflated and deployed state, the airbag includes a pair of front-rear chambers extending in a front-rear direction via left and right sides of a head of a passenger, an airbag body that is in communication with the pair of front-rear chambers and that is disposed at a seat front side of the passenger between the pair of front-rear chambers, and a pair of rear tethers including one-end portions attached to the airbag body and other-end portions attached to a seatback. At a time of restraint of the passenger, the airbag body is pulled by the rear tethers obliquely rearward and downward such that the front-rear chambers press shoulders of the passenger from a seat upper side.
Apparatus for protecting the safety of persons with restricted mobility in a vehicle
An apparatus is provided for protecting the safety of persons, in particular wheelchair users, in a vehicle. The apparatus includes a headrest and/or backrest, and at least one holder, to which the headrest and/or backrest is attached, for holding the headrest and/or backrest. The holder is adapted to change the horizontal distance (X.sub.K) of the headrest and/or the horizontal distance (X.sub.R) of the backrest in the direction of travel from the person. Advantageously, the holder includes at least one cushioning device for cushioning the impact of a person or a wheelchair against the headrest and/or backrest.

The present disclosure relates to a vehicle control apparatus for safety of a vehicle occupant, a vehicle system including the same, and a method thereof. An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure provides a vehicle control apparatus, including: a processor configured to recognize information related to occupants in a vehicle using a radar and to generate information for air conditioning control and airbag control depending on the occupant information; and a communication device configured to transmit the information for the air conditioning control and the airbag control depending on the occupant information to an air conditioning control device and an airbag control device.
Responder assistance for vehicular events
A vehicle includes one or more sensors and engages at least one of the one or more sensors to evaluate at least one of a count or location of vehicle occupants prior to an incident. The vehicle determines that an incident has occurred and that at least one of an evaluated count or location of at least one vehicle occupant has changed following the incident. Also, the vehicle engages at least one of the one or more sensors to detect a presence of a prior occupant outside the vehicle following the incident, responsive to determining that the at least one of the evaluated count or location of the at least one vehicle occupant changed and, responsive to detecting the presence of the prior occupant outside the vehicle following the incident, reports the presence to a 3.sup.rd party response entity.
