Vehicle side airbag
11529925 · 2022-12-20 · ·

An airbag for a vehicle, such as a side airbag, may be mounted to or proximate to a seat assembly on which a passenger may sit. The side airbag may include a chamber and an inflator configured to cause the chamber to expand toward the passenger to slow an acceleration of the passenger responsive to an imminent impact of the vehicle with another object or surface. Upon deployment of the chamber, the side airbag may cause a portion of the seat assembly (a seat tub, seat pan, and/or cushion coupled thereto) to deform toward the passenger seated thereon while remaining occluded from the passenger by the assembly. In some examples, the chamber may be stored in an unfolded position to allow for a more rapid deployment.

SEATING STATE DETECTION DEVICE

A seating state detection device includes an acquisition unit configured to acquire a detection signal group in a predetermined period that is output as a result of transmission and reception of waves by a radio wave sensor mounted on a vehicle, a signal extraction unit configured to extract specific-intensity signals in a predetermined reflection intensity range from the detection signal group, and a determination unit configured to determine whether an occupant in the vehicle is in a first riding state in which the occupant is directly seated on a seat or in a second riding state in which the occupant is seated in an infant auxiliary device, based on a distribution mode of the specific-intensity signals.

A method of providing safety in a level 3 autonomous vehicle by mounting a plurality of cameras in a vehicular cabin to detect edges; translating the edges into motions of a human or a biological entity; and monitoring safety conditions for the human or biological entity.

MOVEABLE FLOOR SUPPORTED AIRBAG

A vehicle includes a floor and a seat supported by the floor. The seat is translatable relative to the floor along a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. An airbag housing is supported by the floor and is disposed alongside the seat. The airbag housing is translatable relative to the floor along the longitudinal axis. An airbag is supported by the airbag housing. The airbag is inflatable to an inflated position that extends from the airbag housing away from the floor.

SENSING THE INGRESS OF WATER INTO A VEHICLE

System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to sensing ingress of water in a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes acquiring, from a radar of a vehicle, radar data about a passenger cabin of the vehicle. The method includes determining a current state of the passenger cabin according to the radar data. The method includes, responsive to identifying that the current state indicates an ingress of water into the passenger cabin, generating a response to the ingress of the water.

RADAR DETECTION OF CHILD CAR SEAT CONDITIONS IN A VEHICLE

A system for controlling operation of a vehicle includes a millimeter-wave radar sensor, a processor, and a memory communicably coupled to the processor. The memory stores a sensor control module configured to automatically control operation of the radar sensor to perform at least one radar scan of at least a portion of an interior of the vehicle. The sensor control module is also configured to determine, using information acquired by the at least one radar scan of the vehicle interior, at least one characteristic of a child car seat positioned in the interior. The sensor control module is also configured to compare the at least one determined characteristic of the child car seat with child car seat comparison information and, responsive to the comparison of the at least one determined characteristic with the child car seat comparison information, control an operation of the vehicle.

Child safety seat

A child safety seat includes a first and a second restraining device, and an alert device and a first and a second switch serially connected in a series circuit. Each of the first and second restraining device is deployable to engage with a corresponding structure provided in a vehicle, each of the first and second restraining devices being operable independently and having an idle position and a deployed position. The first and second switches are respectively coupled operatively to the first and second restraining device, and are respectively closed when the first restraining device is in the deployed position and the second restraining device in the idle position. The alert device is thereby activable to emit an alert signal when the first restraining device is in the deployed position and the second restraining device in the idle position.

Driver side airbag module

A vehicle steering system including a yoke type steering wheel. An airbag module located in the steering wheel and including an inflator and an airbag. The airbag is configured to inflate into two configurations. In the first configuration the airbag is fully inflated into a circular configuration and in the second configuration the airbag inflates into a u-shaped configuration. The u-shaped configuration is formed by a tether connected at a first end to the airbag and at a second end to a tether release device. The tether release device is configured to stay connected to the tether when the driver is determined to be in an out of position (OOP) condition.

Vehicle accident notification device, system including the same, and method thereof

A vehicle accident notification device includes a processor that determines whether a vehicle accident occurs and a degree of the vehicle accident based on a sensing result of a sensor and vehicle information received from a device of the host vehicle and automatically provides a notification of the vehicle accident, a communicator that communicates with other devices, and a storage storing a collision reference value that is used to determine the degree of the vehicle accident in advance.
