Security System for a Transportation Vehicle
20190016287 · 2019-01-17 ·

A security system configured to be installed within an interior of a transportation vehicle to separate persons into different secure holding areas. The secure holding areas are configured to be divided along the length of the vehicle with a first one of the secure holding areas positioned in front of the other secure holding area. At least one of the secure holding areas is further configured to have access doors on each lateral side. This facilitates loading and unloading persons into and out of the secure holding area. The design further segregates the secure holding areas.

A partition is formed with a thermoformed panel having a front side, a rear side, a driver-side portion, a passenger-side portion, and a gun well positioned between the driver-side portion and the passenger-side portion. The gun well is recessed toward the rear side of the thermoformed panel. The driver-side portion is sized and dimensioned to extend along a majority of a vertical height of a driver-side seat of a vehicle. The driver-side portion is formed with a driver-side seatback transitional surface transitioning from the driver-side portion toward the gun well. The driver-side seatback transitional surface is tangentially angled and non-squared. The passenger-side portion is formed with a passenger-side seatback transitional surface transitioning from the passenger-side portion toward the gun well. The passenger-side seatback transitional surface is tangentially angled and non-squared.

Emergency Vehicle Door Opening System
20190001795 · 2019-01-03 ·

An emergency vehicle door opening system includes a vehicle assembly with a body having an opening therein to allow passenger entry. The opening has a front edge, a rear edge, a top edge, and a bottom edge. A door is pivotally coupled to the body adjacent to the front edge and is positionable in a closed position closing the opening or in an open position exposing the opening. The door has an inner edge positioned adjacent to the front edge and an outer edge positioned opposite of the inner edge. An opening assembly is mounted on the vehicle assembly. The opening assembly is mounted on the vehicle and moves the door from an ajar position to a fully open position when the opening assembly is actuated. The outer edge of the door moves at a speed greater than 30 mph when the opening assembly moves the door.

STAB PROOF BACK PANEL FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE

A seating assembly includes a seat and a seatback. The seatback is operably coupled with the seat. A back panel is disposed on a backside of the seat and includes a metal insert. An injection molded polymeric panel is formed around the metal insert. The metal insert is retained by the polymeric panel by a ribbon style mechanical lock. Peripheral attachment features are disposed about an outer perimeter of the back panel for securing the back panel with a frame of the seatback.

Detecting physical threats approaching a vehicle

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for detecting physical threats approaching a vehicle. External sensors on a vehicle capture the environment around the vehicle. Approaching targets detected by the external sensors can be fed into a neural network to recognize and/or classify approaching targets as potential threats. Tracking mechanisms (e.g., Kalman filters, Particle filters, etc.) can leverage temporal information to determine if a threat is approaching a vehicle. When an approaching threat is detected, a vehicle can activate one or more counter measures to deter the threat. When a vehicle includes autonomous driving capabilities, counter measures can include automatically attempting to drive away from an approaching threat.

A window covering system for covering an open window in a vehicle includes a vehicle that has a door and a window opening extending through the door. A screen unit is provided and the screen unit is coupled to the door. The screen unit is selectively positioned in a deployed position to completely cover the window opening. In this way the screen unit inhibits a person outside of the vehicle from reaching through the window opening. The screen unit is substantially comprised of a fluid permeable material to pass air therethrough. The screen unit is selectively positioned in a stored position having the window opening being exposed.
