A pedestrian protecting device for vehicle comprises: a protection device which protects a protection target upon colliding with a vehicle; a measurement device which measures an image of the protection target and a distance from the vehicle to the protection target; and a control device which operates the protection device in a different manner depending on a size of the protection target.

An outside protection apparatus for a vehicle includes an outside airbag device. The outside airbag device includes a bag body expandable to be overlaid on an outer surface of a body of the vehicle, and an inflator configured to expand the bag body. The bag body includes an irregularity formation member at an inner surface of the bag body, and a tether coupled to the irregularity formation member to be bridged in an inner portion of the bag body in a state in which the bag body is expanded. The irregularity formation member forms a projection at a surface of the bag body in response to tension acting on the tether in the state in which the bag body is expanded.

An outside protection apparatus for a vehicle includes an outside airbag device. The outside airbag device includes a bag body expandable to be overlaid on an outer surface of a body of the vehicle, and an inflator configured to expand the bag body. The bag body includes an irregularity formation member at an inner surface of the bag body, and a tether coupled to the irregularity formation member to be bridged in an inner portion of the bag body in a state in which the bag body is expanded. The irregularity formation member forms a projection at a surface of the bag body in response to tension acting on the tether in the state in which the bag body is expanded.

A hood assembly for a vehicle includes an inner hood, an outer hood, and a plurality of deployable devices. The outer hood is fixed relative to the inner hood. The plurality of deployable devices are spaced apart from each other between the inner hood and the outer hood. The deployable devices each define an inflation chamber and are formed of thermoplastic elastomer. Upon detection of impact between the vehicle and a pedestrian, the deployable devices are deployed to separate the outer hood and the inner hood. As such, during impact of the pedestrian with the outer hood, the outer hood may deform and/or the outer hood may space the pedestrian from relatively hard components under the hood assembly.

A hood assembly for a vehicle includes an inner hood, an outer hood, and a plurality of deployable devices. The outer hood is fixed relative to the inner hood. The plurality of deployable devices are spaced apart from each other between the inner hood and the outer hood. The deployable devices each define an inflation chamber and are formed of thermoplastic elastomer. Upon detection of impact between the vehicle and a pedestrian, the deployable devices are deployed to separate the outer hood and the inner hood. As such, during impact of the pedestrian with the outer hood, the outer hood may deform and/or the outer hood may space the pedestrian from relatively hard components under the hood assembly.

An airbag apparatus for protecting a pedestrian. An unfolded airbag cushion includes a roof chamber part unfolded to cover a front part of a roof panel, left and right pillar chamber parts unfolded to cover front pillars, and a windshield chamber part unfolded to cover the entire surface of a windshield glass. The airbag apparatus is configured to protect the head and upper body of the pedestrian maximally and efficiently by using the roof chamber part, the pillar chamber parts, the windshield chamber part in a contact accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian and a cyclist.

An airbag apparatus for protecting a pedestrian. An unfolded airbag cushion includes a roof chamber part unfolded to cover a front part of a roof panel, left and right pillar chamber parts unfolded to cover front pillars, and a windshield chamber part unfolded to cover the entire surface of a windshield glass. The airbag apparatus is configured to protect the head and upper body of the pedestrian maximally and efficiently by using the roof chamber part, the pillar chamber parts, the windshield chamber part in a contact accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian and a cyclist.

An airbag apparatus to be applied to a vehicle includes an airbag, a collision determiner, an airbag deployment controller, and a pulling device. The airbag is configured to be deployed forward of a vehicle body front of the vehicle. The collision determiner is configured to establish a pre-crash determination in a case where a collision probability is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold. The airbag deployment controller is configured to give to an inflator a command to supply deployment gas to the airbag and deploy the airbag, in response to the pre-crash determination. The pulling device is configured to pull, rearward of the vehicle, a collision portion with which a collision object is to collide or vicinity of the collision portion on a front surface of the airbag so as to form a recessed portion configured to restrain the collision object.

An airbag apparatus to be applied to a vehicle includes an airbag, a collision determiner, an airbag deployment controller, and a pulling device. The airbag is configured to be deployed forward of a vehicle body front of the vehicle. The collision determiner is configured to establish a pre-crash determination in a case where a collision probability is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold. The airbag deployment controller is configured to give to an inflator a command to supply deployment gas to the airbag and deploy the airbag, in response to the pre-crash determination. An airbag apparatus includes an airbag configured to be deployed forward of a front of a vehicle body of a vehicle; a collision determiner configured to establish a pre-crash determination when a collision probability with a collision object is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold; and an airbag deployment controller configured to, in response to the pre-crash determination, give to an inflator a command to supply deployment gas to the airbag and deploy the airbag. The airbag includes front air chambers provided in a front portion of the airbag and disposed in a vehicle width direction, a coupling member configured to couple front end portions of the front air chambers in the vehicle width direction, and a rear air chamber disposed between rear portions of the front air chambers and a front end portion of the vehicle body, and communicating with an inside of each front air chamber.
