A detector includes a first flexible sheet, a second flexible sheet placed opposite to the first flexible sheet, and an insulation sheet intervening between them. The first flexible sheet includes a second antenna unit and first contact portions formed on a first opposing surface. The second flexible sheet includes a detection unit and second contact portions formed on a second opposing surface. The first contact portions and the second contact portions become a state of contact by an external force based on the seating of an occupant, cause the second antenna unit to output a transmission signal to the detection unit, and cause the detection unit to output a detection signal to the second antenna unit.

Robust seat belt usage sensor

A seatbelt assembly includes a seatbelt, a conductive sensing conductor and a conductive shield. The seatbelt has a lap band. The conductive sensing conductor is fixed to a first side of the lap band. The conductive shield is fixed to a second side of the lap band and is substantially aligned with and substantially overlaps the sensing conductor. An insulating layer is disposed between the sensing conductor and the conductive shield.

Occupancy Sensing for a Child Transportation System

An occupancy sensor for a seating component of a child transportation system is disclosed. A pair of conductors couple to capacitive sensors. The pair of conductors are coupled to the seating component in the region where the torso of a child would be located when a child was occupying the seating component. The conductors are unshielded in the area near the child's torso and are shielded elsewhere. The conductors can be run on either side of a wall of the seating component, and may be run in recessed channels in the wall. Various signal processing operations can be performed to improve occupancy sensing performance.

A belt retractor unit with a housing, a rotatably mounted belt reel, a blocking unit for blocking the belt reel, wherein the blocking unit has an electrically controllable actuator unit, a control apparatus for controlling the actuator unit, which has a sensor apparatus for measuring at least one horizontal acceleration value and a switching apparatus for controlling the actuator unit in dependence on at least the at least one horizontal acceleration value, wherein the belt retractor unit has a first emergency state, in which the magnitude of the horizontal acceleration value is above a first limit value and in which the belt reel is blocked, and an unblocking state in which the magnitude of the horizontal acceleration value is below the first limit value.

Methods for monitoring safety belt usage

Methods and systems detect motion of a motor vehicle and detect whether the driver, and/or other occupants, are wearing their safety belts. A third party can be notified, in real-time, that the vehicle is being driven without the safety belts engaged. The user can then deliver an audio message to the user, either pre-recorded or live, to remind the user to fasten their safety belts. The third party also has an option of delivering a consequence to the user as a result of the detection of the safety belt not being engaged. Such consequence can include automatically limiting access to certain applications of the driver's smart phone for a certain period of time. The system can include a seat belt application detector, a vehicle motion detector, and wireless communication means to send a signal of safety belt application to the third party.

On-board storage system for shortening time required for initializing storage device

The present disclosure provides an on-board storage system in which the time required for initializing a storage device is substantially shortened by devising a backend start timing. The on-board storage system includes: a storage device that has a controller, a NAND flash memory, and an interface; an electronic control unit that electronically controls a vehicle; and a sensor. The electronic control unit communicates with the storage device through the interface, the sensor transmits a detection result of the sensor to the electronic control unit, and the electronic control unit transmits a command to start initialization of the NAND flash memory to the controller when the transmitted detection result of the sensor indicates a driving-start preliminary operation.

IMPROPER SEATBELT USAGE DETECTION

A system for detecting improper usage of a seatbelt of a vehicle includes a vehicle seat having a seat cushion and a seat back. A shoulder belt and a lap belt are intended to restrain an occupant sitting on the vehicle seat. The system includes a sensor module associated with the shoulder belt and the lap belt. The sensor module generates signals indicative of at least one parameter associated with the vehicle seat, the shoulder belt, and the lap belt when the occupant is sitting on the vehicle seat. The system also includes a controller that receives the signals indicative of the at least one parameter associated with the seat back, the shoulder belt, and the lap belt. The controller analyzes the received one or more signals, and determines whether the seatbelt is being used improperly by the occupant, based on the analysis.

Off-road vehicle

An off-road vehicle with a driver's seat; a seat belt apparatus provided for the driver's seat; a seat belt detecting device for detecting the set state of the seat belt apparatus provided for the driver's seat; and a controller for controlling the off-road vehicle. The controller has a rotation speed control mode for controlling the rotation speed of the engine to a predetermined rotation speed or less, and the controller releases the rotation speed control mode when the seat belt detecting device detects the set state of the seat belt apparatus provided for the driver's seat.
