Digital car keys and sharing of digital car keys using mobile devices
Methods and systems for sharing digital electronic keys (e-keys) to use a vehicle with the e-key are provided. One example method includes sending, via a first application of a first mobile device, a message to a second mobile device to initiate providing access to the vehicle via the e-key. The method includes receiving, by the first mobile device, data confirming from the second mobile device indicating receipt and creating the e-key at the second mobile device for the vehicle with a level of access that was set via the first application of the first mobile device. The data confirming receipt for the e-key is authenticated by the first mobile device. The method includes sending, by the first mobile device, verification of the e-key for use via the second mobile device. The e-key is registered with a server to enable activation of the e-key on the second mobile device. A second application of the second mobile device provides a user interface for access of the e-key for unlocking and starting the vehicle. In one example, the e-key is usable via wireless communication with the vehicle over a near field communication (NFC) connection. In one example, the first application of the first mobile device is provided with an interface to enable revocation to disable the e-key shared with a user of the second mobile device.
Rental/Car-Share Vehicle Access and Management System and Method
A system is described that wirelessly connects vehicles with a remote computer system using a vehicle control unit that is re-usable with different vehicles. The vehicle control unit can be detachably connectable with different vehicles over time to support rental transactions of the vehicles to which it is connected. Pairing techniques are described for linking the vehicle control unit with the vehicle to which it is connected. Furthermore, to re-use that vehicle control unit with a different vehicle, an unpairing process can be used to de-link the vehicle control unit from a first vehicle; and that vehicle control unit can then be paired with a different vehicle. To support the rental transactions, the remote computer system can send wireless signals to the vehicle control unit to control one or more vehicle functions of the paired vehicle to which the vehicle control unit is connected.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COMMUNICATING WITH THIRD PARTIES EXTERNAL TO AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
An apparatus and method for communicating with third parties external to autonomous vehicles are disclosed. In one aspect, the apparatus may be configured to receive a signal from a first user interface mounted to an exterior of an autonomous vehicle, establish a two way communication between the first user interface and a remote system, authenticate a third party, and in response to the third party being authenticated, establish a connection with a second user interface.
SYSTEM FOR MANAGING ACCESS TO A VEHICLE BY A SERVICE PROVIDER THAT IS TO PROVIDE A SERVICE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE
In some implementations, a system may receive an access request associated with an agent and the vehicle. The system may authenticate, based on an agent identification associated with the agent, the agent in association with providing the vehicle service. The system may send, based on authenticating the agent, an authorization request to a user associated with the vehicle, wherein the authorization request is sent to a user device associated with the user that enables the user to authorize the agent to access the vehicle in association with providing the vehicle service. The system may receive, from the user device, a user authorization that authorizes the agent to access the vehicle. The system may configure the vehicle to enable the agent to access the vehicle via a client device associated with the agent.
SECURE ACCESS TO VEHICLE USING BIOMETRIC IDENTIFIER
Secure access to a vehicle is described, in which one or more biometric identifiers of a user may be utilized to enable the vehicle. The user may not operate the vehicle without satisfying security measures based on his/her biometric identifier generated from various biological traits. In some embodiments, an artificial engine and/or algorithm may be combined to facilitate the authentication process to determine whether the user is authorized to use the vehicle. The secure access features may also manage a list of biometric identifiers of the authorized users. In some instances, the secure access features may be temporarily disabled. Further, individual parts of the vehicle may be associated with a unique identifier of the vehicle (which may include a vehicle identification number), and/or may be configured to transmit their geological locations determined by a global positioning system (GPS).

A vehicle control device includes a remote operation control unit that approves a remote operation right (a right to perform a remote operation of a vehicle) and an operation control unit that controls an operation of the vehicle according to a remote operation performed in response to an instruction by an information processing device to which the remote operation right is granted to another vehicle to move. The information processing device includes a vehicle detection unit that detects a first vehicle and a vehicle control unit that requests a remote operation right that is a right to remotely operate the first vehicle and remotely operates the first vehicle in response to an instruction to move a second vehicle in a case where the remote operation right is granted. The present technology is applied to, for example, a vehicle that performs automatic driving or a control device of a parking lot.
METHOD FOR STARTING VEHICLE AND RELATED DEVICE
A method for starting a vehicle and a related device. The method includes: A server sends first security information and second security information to a mobile terminal and a telematics box respectively through an encrypted secure transmission channel or an encrypted secure transmission protocol, so that the telematics box can verify, by using the first security information and the second security information, a vehicle start instruction sent by the mobile terminal. When the verification succeeds, the telematics box controls the vehicle to start. The method help to avoid plaintext transmission of the security information between the mobile terminal and the telematics box, thereby avoiding leakage of the security information, and reducing a risk that the vehicle is maliciously started. In addition, a transmission process of the security information may not be restricted by a distance between the vehicle and the mobile terminal.
