WIRELESS VEHICLE SECURITY MOTION SENSOR WITH THREADED MOUNTING SURFACE AND RELATED METHODS
A vehicle security system may include a vehicle controller and a first wireless communications device coupled thereto, and at least one wireless sensor. The wireless sensor may include a housing having a threaded mounting surface, a motion sensor carried by the housing, a second wireless communications device carried by the housing, and a sensor controller carried by the housing. The sensor controller is configured to determine when motion of the housing exceeds a first threshold, and send a first security alert message to the vehicle controller based thereon via the second and first wireless communications devices, and determine when the first threshold is exceeded for a predetermined time and enter a power saving mode based thereon. The at least one sensor may also include a power source carried by the housing to power the motion sensor, second wireless communications device, and sensor controller.
Vehicle anti-theft device
An anti-theft device 10 is operatively connected to a vehicle drivetrain, downstream of a power plant. To this end, a gear 12 is mounted for rotation together with a driveshaft 13. The device 10 further includes a pivotally mounted locking pawl 17 which is movable relative to the gear 12 between an open position in which a profiled head 18 of the pawl 17 is spaced away from a periphery of the gear 12 such that the gear 12 is permitted to rotate freely together with the driveshaft 13, and a locked position, in which the profiled head 18 of the pawl 17 engages the gear 12 and prevents rotation thereof, thereby locking the driveshaft 13 in position. The device includes an actuator 23 and ECU 22 in a tamper-proof casing 27. The ECU controls engagement of the pawl depending upon a position of a handbrake and ignition switch.

Tracking and theft-recovery system for mobile assets
A system for tracking objects includes tracking devices each attached to an object to be tracked and including a short range communications module. A server includes a processor and a memory. A mobile communications device (typically a mobile telephone) includes memory for storing an identification of the mobile device, a long range communication module for communication over a cellular communication network and a short range communications module for receiving short range signals transmitted from tracking devices. The mobile telephone also includes a location determination module to determine the location of the mobile telephone. On receipt of a short range distress signal from a tracking device, a location is obtained from the location module and a signal transmitted to the server including at least the identification of the tracking device, a time of receipt of the short range signal from the tracking device and the determined location of the tracking device when the short range signal was received.

Remotely activated vehicle anti-theft device
A remotely activated vehicle anti-theft device 10 and system 50 for preventing vehicle theft is provided. The device 10 is moved between unlocked, locked and priority locked states using either a wireless vehicle remote 51 or a mobile phone 52. The mobile phone 52 enjoys priority over the remote control 51 and overrides it when the device is in its priority locked state. It includes a pivotal locking member 17 which is movable between an open position (unlocked state) in which the member is spaced away from a gear 12, permitting it to rotate freely, and a locked position (locked and priority locked states), in which the member 17 engages the gear 12 and prevents rotation thereof, thereby immobilising a vehicle. The device 10 includes an ECU 22, wireless communication module 34, actuator 23, GPS 6 and speed sensor 7 housed in a tamper-proof casing 27.

Vehicular control device
In a vehicular control device, an operating intention detection unit is disposed on a tire or wheel rim of a vehicle to detect an operating intention of a user relative to an opening/closing body of the vehicle. An operating intention acquisition unit is disposed on the vehicle body of the vehicle to acquire the operating intention. An ID code acquisition unit acquires, from a mobile device carried by the user, an ID code that identifies the user or the mobile device. An ID code determination unit determines whether the ID code is correct. The condition establishment determination unit determines, based on the operating intention of the user and on the result of ID code determination, whether an output condition for outputting operating instruction information that designates an operation of the opening/closing body is established. An output unit outputs the operating instruction information when the output conditions are established.
