Machine Learning of Environmental Conditions to Control Positioning of Visual Sensors
20200177798 · 2020-06-04 ·

Systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for controlling positioning of visual sensors based on machine learned environmental conditions. One or more machine learning models are performed to determine environmental conditions based on receiving one or more visual sensor inputs. Position of one or more visual sensors are further caused to be changed in order to optimize visual sensing by the one or more visual sensors of visual information relevant to the environmental conditions.

Rotating LIDAR with Co-Aligned Imager
20200169701 · 2020-05-28 ·

Example implementations are provided for an arrangement of co-aligned rotating sensors. One example device includes a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) transmitter that emits light pulses toward a scene according to a pointing direction of the device. The device also includes a LIDAR receiver that detects reflections of the emitted light pulses reflecting from the scene. The device also includes an image sensor that captures an image of the scene based on at least external light originating from one or more external light sources. The device also includes a platform that supports the LIDAR transmitter, the LIDAR receiver, and the image sensor in a particular relative arrangement. The device also includes an actuator that rotates the platform about an axis to adjust the pointing direction of the device.

VEHICLE ELECTRONIC MIRROR SYSTEM
20200156541 · 2020-05-21 · ·

A rearward camera of a vehicle electronic mirror system images a rearward view of a vehicle, and a lateral rearward camera unit images each of right and left lateral rearward views of the vehicle. A control device compresses at least one of a rearward view picture after imaging by the rearward camera and right and left lateral rearward view pictures after imaging by the lateral rearward camera unit, at least in a vehicle-width direction, and performs display on an inner mirror display. The control device changes the compression ratio of the picture in the control device, depending on at least one of a state and peripheral situation of the vehicle. Accordingly, when a vehicle rearward side including lateral rearward sides contains a site requiring an easy distance-sense grasp, it is possible to easily grasp distance sense by decreasing the compression ratio of the picture corresponding to the site.

VEHICLE SIDE VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM WITH ADJUSTABLE FIELD OF VIEW
20200156592 · 2020-05-21 · ·

A vehicle can include one or more movably mounted cameras that are able to move to adjust a viewing angle of the camera(s) relative to a body of the vehicle. The camera(s) may be movable by virtue of being coupled to a movable side mirror, such that movement of the side mirror changes a field of view of the camera coupled to the side mirror. For example, the side mirror can be rotated about a rotational axis between a first position in which a field of view of the camera is directed in a first direction (e.g. toward a ground proximate the vehicle), and a second position in which the field of view of the camera is directed in a second direction, different than the first direction (e.g., outward from the vehicle or toward a door of the vehicle).

VIRTUAL MIRROR ARRANGEMENT WITH ADJUSTMENT FUNCTION VIA A MOVEMENT OF THE DISPLAY
20200148111 · 2020-05-14 · ·

A virtual mirror arrangement, in particular for a vehicle, including at least one screen arranged in the interior of a vehicle for displaying a detection region of at least one camera, where an actuator connected to the camera is controllable by a movement of the display. The disclosure further relates to a method for adjusting a virtual mirror.

Vehicle surroundings display device

Cameras capture images of different regions in the surroundings of a vehicle, and plural captured images are displayed on a monitor. An operation section includes a four-way switch enabling input to instruct a movement direction of a range to display as an image on the monitor, and a selection switch enabling input to designate a target image out of the plural images. An electronic mirror switches between a mode in which an image display on the monitor is modified under a first operation condition in which the four-way switch has been operated in a state in which the target image has not been designated through the selection switch, and a mode in which an image display on the monitor is modified under a second operation condition in which the four-way switch has been operated in a state in which the target image has been designated through the selection switch.

IN-VEHICLE CAMERA DEVICE AND METHOD FOR SELECTING DRIVING IMAGE
20200122645 · 2020-04-23 ·

A method for filtering driving images includes enabling a light compensating unit at a first time point to emit supplemental light, capturing a first driving image under the supplemental light at the first time point by an image capturing unit, disabling the light compensating unit at a second time point, capturing a second driving image at the second time point by the image capturing unit, selecting the first driving image according to a first brightness difference between the first driving image and the second driving image and a predetermined threshold, and outputting the first driving image when the first brightness difference is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold.

REAR VIEW MONITORING DEVICE
20200114762 · 2020-04-16 ·

A rear view monitoring device includes: a display unit which is provided on both sides of an instrument panel in a vehicle width direction; and a housing formed to surround a periphery of the display unit, wherein the housing includes an opening portion formed on a display surface side of the display unit, an upper surface disposed above the display unit, a side surface disposed outside the display unit in the vehicle width direction, and an overhanging portion which straddles the upper surface and the side surface and overhangs outward in the vehicle width direction from a range in which a pillar projects in a vertical direction, and at least the overhanging portion is formed to have a downward gradient toward an outside in the vehicle width direction.
