20200339274 · 2020-10-29 ·

A method for aligning a removable sensor on a vehicle includes connecting the removable sensor to a sensor mounting device. The method further includes connecting a connector of an alignment apparatus to either (i) the removable sensor such that a spatial reference component of the alignment apparatus has a known position and orientation relative to a current position and orientation of the removable sensor or (ii) a fixed connection location on the vehicle such that the spatial reference component indicates a desired position and orientation of the removable sensor. In addition the method includes adjusting the current position and orientation of the removable sensor by reference to the alignment apparatus to cause the current position and orientation of the removable sensor to match the desired position and orientation of the removable sensor.

Concealed fiducial markers for vehicle camera calibration

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for concealed fiducial markers for vehicle camera calibration. An example vehicle includes a frame, at least one panel coupled to the frame, and fiducial markers arranged in a predefined grid. The fiducial markers are configured to be detectable by a camera and concealed from observation by the human eye. The predefined grid of the fiducial markers is arranged to facilitate calibration of the thermal camera.

SELF CALIBRATING CAMERA DEVICE

A display system may include a camera configured to capture an image of a calibration reference associated with an automobile, a display, and a controller in communication with the camera and the display. The controller may be configured to selectively adjust a color temperature of the display based on the image of the calibration reference.

OPTIMIZED FORWARD-FACING CAMERA CALIBRATION SYSTEM WITH PORTABLE MOUNTING APPARATUS AND ADAPTABLE ELECTRONIC CALIBRATION TARGET DISPLAY

A system and method for calibrating a forward-facing camera or sensor of a vehicle is provided. The system includes a calibration tool, the position of which can be adjusted on the vehicle to align a presentation screen of the calibration tool with the vehicle camera. A processor performs a method to determine the size and position of a calibration target to be displayed on the presentation screen, based on a position of the calibration tool relative to the vehicle camera and generates a calibration target image to be digitally transmitted to the presentation screen. The presentation screen displays the calibration target image at an appropriate height, angle, and distance from the camera or sensor being calibrated.

Method for determining misalignment of a vehicular camera
10780826 · 2020-09-22 · ·

A method for determining misalignment of a vehicular camera and calibrating the misaligned camera includes providing a plurality of cameras at a vehicle and providing a control having an electronic control unit that includes a processor for processing image data captured by the plurality of cameras. Frames of image data captured by the plurality of cameras are processed to determine objects present in the field of view of at least one of the cameras. Responsive to processing vehicle data during driving of the vehicle, a vehicle motion vector is determined. Movement of an object relative to the vehicle is determined via processing of at least two frames of captured image data during driving of the vehicle. Responsive to determination of a difference between the relative movement of the object and the vehicle motion vector, misalignment of a misaligned camera is determined, and calibration of the misaligned camera is adjusted.

CAR LENS OFFSET DETECTION METHOD AND CAR LENS OFFSET DETECTION SYSTEM
20200294268 · 2020-09-17 · ·

A car lens offset detection method and a car lens offset detection system are provided. The first image capturing device and the second image capturing device are disposed on a car, and the method includes: capturing a first image with use of a first image capturing device and capturing a second image with use of a second image capturing device; obtaining a plurality of first feature points from the first image according to a plurality of first predetermined positions and obtaining a plurality of second feature points from the second image according to a plurality of second predetermined positions; comparing feature values of the first feature points with feature values of the second feature points and determining whether the first feature points match the second feature points; in response to the first feature points not matching the second feature points, performing a calibration and warning operation.

METHOD FOR DYNAMICALLY CALIBRATING A VEHICULAR CAMERA
20200262347 · 2020-08-20 ·

A method for dynamically calibrating a vehicular camera includes disposing a camera at a vehicle and operating the camera to capture multiple frames of image data while the vehicle is in motion and is steered within at least two ranges of steering angles. Feature points are determined in an image frame when the vehicle is steered within a respective range of steering angles, and motion trajectories of those feature points are tracked in subsequent image frames for the respective range of steering angles. A horizon line is determined based on the tracked feature points. Responsive to determination that the determined horizon line is non-parallel to the horizontal axis of the image plane, at least one of pitch, roll or yaw of the camera is adjusted. Image data captured by the camera is processed at the control for object detection.

STEREO CAMERA ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM

A stereo camera adjustment system disposes an adjustment plate that displays an adjustment chart for adjusting deviation of image information caused by position misalignment of the stereo camera at a predetermined position relative to a vehicle mounted with a stereo camera, capture an image of the adjustment chart, and process the captured image of the adjustment chart to correct the deviation of the image information. The stereo camera adjustment system includes a plate movement device that adjusts a disposed state of the adjustment plate relative to the vehicle, a detector that detects an attitude of the vehicle stopped at a defined position, and a controller that controls, based on the detected attitude of the vehicle, the plate movement device to adjust the disposed state of the adjustment plate such that the adjustment plate is at the predetermined position relative to the vehicle.
