A vehicle has a trailer hitch, a vehicle electrical connector configured to electrically connect to a trailer electrical connector, and an imaging system oriented to captures images proximate to the trailer hitch. The vehicle also includes a proximity sensing system arranged to sense objects proximate to the trailer hitch and generate a proximity signal, an electrical connection detection system to detect an electrical connection to the vehicle trailer connector and generate an electrical connection signal, and a controller processing the captured images, the proximity signal and the electrical connector signal and determining a connection state of a trailer to the vehicle based on the captured images, the proximity sensor and the electrical connector signal, and generating an output indicative of the determined connection state.
Vehicular driving assist system including multiple cameras and radar sensor
A vehicular driving assist system includes a rearward viewing camera, a driver-side camera, a passenger-side camera and at least one radar sensor. Image data captured by the cameras is provided to a control and radar data captured by the radar sensor is provided to the control. The control processes the provided captured data to determine a potential hazard presented by rear-approaching traffic. The control outputs video image data for display by a display device of the equipped vehicle. The display device includes a video display screen that displays video images for viewing by a driver of the equipped vehicle during operation of the equipped vehicle. The control processes provided captured image data and provided captured radar data to alert the driver to the determined potential hazard presented by the rear-approaching traffic in the side traffic lane adjacent to the traffic lane being traveled by the equipped vehicle.
System and method for positioning a vehicle with reduced variation
A vehicle system is configured to control a trailer alignment routine. The system comprises a hitch ball mounted on a vehicle and a controller configured to identify a coupler position of a trailer. The controller is further configured to control motion of the vehicle to an aligned position, wherein the hitch ball is aligned with the coupler position. In response to the aligned position, the controller activates a service brake holding the vehicle and while maintaining the service brake activation, the controller activates a parking brake.
PERIPHERAL MONITORING APPARATUS
A peripheral monitoring apparatus includes a hardware processor that: acquires captured image data obtained by capturing, from a towing vehicle to which a towed vehicle is coupleable, a region behind the towing vehicle; acquires coupling information representing whether or not the towed vehicle is coupled to the towing vehicle; generates a reference line to be a reference for a movement of the towing vehicle when the towing vehicle moves backward; and switches display modes of the reference line to be displayed after being superimposed on an image being based on the captured image data, the switching of the display modes being performed between a case where the towed vehicle is coupled to the towing vehicle and a case where the towed vehicle is not coupled to the towing vehicle.
METHOD FOR DETECTING AN OBJECT VIA A VEHICULAR VISION SYSTEM
A method for detecting an object via a vehicular vision system includes disposing first and second cameras at respective locations at a vehicle so as to have respective first and second fields of view rearward of the vehicle. The locations are vertically and horizontally spaced apart by respective vertical and horizontal separation distances. With the first and second cameras disposed at the respective locations, the first field of view at least partially overlaps the second field of view. An electronic control unit (ECU) is provided that includes an image processor. Image data is captured by the cameras and provided to the ECU and processed at the ECU. The ECU, responsive to processing of captured image data and based on the separation distances, determines presence of an object in the overlapping region of the first and second fields of view and determines the location of the object relative to the vehicle.
VEHICULAR TRAILER HITCHING ASSIST SYSTEM
A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and viewing at least rearward of the vehicle. An electronic control unit (ECU) includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. The ECU, via image processing of image data captured by the camera, detects a trailer rearward of the vehicle and determines a first path of travel for the vehicle to follow to maneuver the vehicle toward the trailer and to align the tow ball of the vehicle with a trailer hitch of the trailer. The ECU generates an output to maneuver the vehicle along the determined first path of travel. Responsive to detection of an object entering the first path of travel, the ECU determines a second path of travel for the vehicle to follow that avoids the detected object entering the determined path of travel.
Rear camera system for a vehicle with a trailer
A vehicle plug for transmitting power and signals between a vehicle and a trailer includes a power conductor and one or more video signal conductors. The power conductor is configured to provide power to one or more electrical components of the trailer, the one or more electrical components of the trailer includes one or more video cameras. The one or more video signal conductors are configured to receive video signals from the one or more video cameras of the trailer.
VEHICULAR VISION SYSTEM WITH DUAL PROCESSOR CONTROL
A vehicular vision system includes a forward viewing camera at a windshield of a vehicle and a plurality of color cameras, and includes a display device operable to display video images derived from image data captured by the color cameras. A processing unit includes a first processing chip that has an image processor for machine-vision processing of captured image data, and a second processing chip that receives vehicle data and receives image data captured by the color cameras. The first processing chip machine-vision processes image data captured by the cameras for object detection and classification of objects. The first processing chip controls operating parameters of the color cameras to enhance object detection based on machine-vision processing by the first processing chip of image data captured by the color cameras. The second processing chip controls operating parameters of the color cameras for display at the display device of video images.
System to automate hitching a trailer
A vehicle hitch assistance system includes comprising an imaging system, a steering system, a dead reckoning device and a controller. The controller determines a hitch location within a vehicle exterior image received from the imaging system and controls the steering system to guide the vehicle in a reverse direction to align a hitch ball of the vehicle with the hitch location, including by tracking the location of the vehicle using information received from the dead reckoning device.
Vehicle and trailer maneuver assist system
A trailer assist system for a vehicle includes a plurality of sensors disposed at a vehicle, a trailer sensor disposed at a rear portion of a trailer and having a field of sensing at least rearward of the trailer, and a control having a processor operable to process data captured by the sensors. A display screen displays an area rearward of the trailer. Responsive to a user input selecting a target area present in the displayed image, the control, via processing of data captured by the sensors, is operable to determine a path of travel for the vehicle and trailer to follow to maneuver the vehicle and trailer toward a target location represented by the selected displayed target area. The control, responsive to determination of the path of travel, controls at least steering of the vehicle to maneuver the vehicle and trailer along the determined path of travel.
