Method for shape recognition of an object outside of a transportation vehicle and transportation vehicle
A method for recognizing the shape of an object outside of a transportation vehicle, wherein a respective image is generated at at least two different measurement time points and at least one scanline is specified in a first one of the images and a corresponding scanline is specified in each other of the images, and for each scanline of the first image, a profile resulting along the scanline is determined and a corresponding profile is determined along the respective corresponding scanline of each other image, and by comparing the profile of each scanline of the first image to the respective corresponding profile of each other image a respective displacement distance resulting between the measurement time points of characteristic regions is determined, and a distinction is made of each characteristic region between object and background based on the determined displacement distance.
VEHICULAR MULTI-CAMERA VISION SYSTEM INCLUDING REAR BACKUP CAMERA
A multi-camera vision system for a vehicle includes a rear backup camera, a forward viewing camera that views through the vehicle windshield, and a central data processor disposed in the vehicle. Captured image data provided to the central data processor is processed to detect objects that are within the field of view of the forward viewing camera and/or the field of view of the rear backup camera. Captured radar data is also provided to the central data processor and, via processing of captured image data and captured radar data, a potential hazard is determined to exist. A display device includes a video screen that displays video images captured by the rear backup camera for viewing by a driver of the vehicle during the rearward maneuver of the vehicle, and an overlay overlays the displayed video images captured by the rear backup camera during the rearward maneuver of the equipped vehicle.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING AND TRACKING OBJECTS
Methods of and systems for operating an embedded system of a vehicle during a coupling operation of the vehicle with a trailer having a coupler. The method comprises accessing a video stream generated by a video camera; operating an object detection module on the video stream so as to detect the trailer and/or the coupler and establish one or more regions of interest. The method also comprises generating a vehicle referential point estimated position of a vehicle referential point and generating a coupler position with respect to the vehicle referential point estimated position based on the one or more regions of interests and the vehicle referential point estimated position.
TRACTION ASSIST APPARATUS
A traction assist apparatus includes a memory and a hardware processor coupled to the memory. The hardware processor is configured to: acquire first coupling information representing a current coupling posture of a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle and acquire second coupling information representing a future coupling posture of the towed vehicle where the towing vehicle moves backward at a current steering angle; and display a first indicator and a second indicator on a display device in a comparable mode, the first indicator indicating the towed vehicle corresponding to the first coupling information, the second indicator indicating the towed vehicle corresponding to the second coupling information.
TRAILER BACKUP ASSIST SYSTEM HAVING ADVANCED USER MODE WITH SELECTABLE HITCH ANGLE LIMITS
A backup assist system for a vehicle reversing a trailer includes a controller receiving a driver control signal and outputting a vehicle backing steering command based on the control signal and limited by one of a first angle limit corresponding with a calculated maximum controllable angle and a second angle limit at a maneuverability threshold below the maximum controllable angle. The system further includes an interface outputting an indication of the one of the first and second angle limits.
HITCH ASSISTANCE SYSTEM WITH INTERFACE PRESENTING SIMPLIFIED PATH IMAGE
A vehicle hitching assistance system includes a controller acquiring image data from the vehicle and deriving a vehicle path to align a center of a hitch ball of the vehicle with a centerline of a trailer coupler within the image data. The controller also outputs a video image including a representation of a simplified path from the hitch ball to the coupler and outputs a steering signal to cause the vehicle to steer along the vehicle path.
System and method for determining a starting point of a guidance line for attaching a trailer to a trailer hitch mounted in a cargo bed of a vehicle
A system according to the present disclosure includes an edge detection module, a hitch identification module, a guidance line module, and a display control module. The edge detection module detects edges of an object within an image of a cargo bed of a vehicle. The hitch identification module identifies at least one of a type of a trailer hitch attached to the cargo bed and a size of the trailer hitch based on the detected edges of the object. The guidance line module determines a starting point of a guidance line for connecting a trailer to the trailer hitch based on at least one of the type of the trailer hitch and the size of the trailer hitch. The display control module controls an electronic display to display the image of the cargo bed and to display the guidance line on the image of the cargo bed.
Pose estimation and applications using computer imaging
Embodiments describe a method for positioning a hinged vehicle including a primary part and a secondary part coupled to the primary part at a project site. The method includes receiving, from an image capturing device, digital image data representing one or more features of the secondary part; performing image analysis on the digital image data to identify positions of the one or more features of the secondary part; identifying an angle of at least a portion of the secondary part; calculating a current position of the secondary part based on the angle; calculating a positional difference between a correct position at the project site for the secondary part and a current position of the secondary part at the project site; and initiating a change in a position of the primary part to compensate for the positional difference and to position the secondary part on the correct position.
AUTOMATED HITCHING SYSTEM WITH SUBJECT TRAILER SELECTION FROM MULTIPLE IDENTIFIED TRAILERS
A vehicle hitching assistance system includes a controller acquiring image data from the vehicle, identifying a plurality of trailers within the image data, receiving a selection of a subject trailer of the plurality of trailers, identifying a coupler of the subject trailer, and outputting a steering signal to the vehicle to cause the vehicle to steer to align a hitch ball of the vehicle with the coupler of the subject trailer.
Surround view vision system that utilizes trailer camera
A vehicular surround vision system includes a plurality of vehicle cameras disposed at a vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior the vehicle, a trailer camera disposed at a rear of a trailer and having a field of view rearward of the trailer, and a display device in the vehicle. An electronic control unit (ECU) receives image data captured by the plurality of vehicle cameras. The display device displays surround view images responsive to the ECU. With the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the ECU receives image data captured by the trailer camera and the display device displays surround view images responsive to the ECU, with the displayed surround view images derived from image data captured by the trailer camera and at least some of the vehicle cameras.
