VEHICULAR TRAILER GUIDANCE SYSTEM

A vehicular trailer guidance system includes an electronic control unit (ECU), a rear backup camera and a trailer camera disposed at a rear portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. A display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. With the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the display screen is operable to display video images derived from image data captured by the trailer camera. At least in part via processing at the ECU of image data captured by the trailer camera, an instruction that aids maneuvering the vehicle in reverse with the trailer hitched thereto during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer is generated. During the reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer, the display screen displays an alert when angling of the trailer relative to the vehicle approaches a jackknife condition.

An image processing apparatus (10) includes an interface (12) configured to acquire a surrounding image of a moveable body (1) and a processor (12) configured to overlay a display indicating a course trajectory of a specific portion of the moveable body (1) in a travel direction of the moveable body (1) on the surrounding image at a position corresponding to the height of the specific portion from a road surface (3). The processor (12) is configured to change the display indicating the course trajectory when an obstacle, included in the surrounding image and present in the travel direction of the moveable body (1), and the course trajectory of the specific portion are in contact.

Method and apparatus for visualization of an environment of a motor vehicle

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for visualizing an environment of a motor vehicle, wherein the apparatus has at least one camera for detecting an environment of the motor vehicle, at least one display unit, and an evaluation and control unit, which is designed to depict images of the environment on the display unit, depending on the pictures from the at least one camera, wherein the apparatus comprises a device for detecting a head position of a vehicle passenger, wherein the evaluation and control unit is designed so that the depiction on the display unit is adapted depending on the detected head position, so that the vehicle passenger sees a depiction of the environment of the motor vehicle that the vehicle passenger would see if the display unit were a transparent window of the motor vehicle.

MULTI-SENSOR INTERIOR MIRROR DEVICE WITH IMAGE ADJUSTMENT

A vision system for a vehicle includes a forward viewing camera disposed at a mirror head of an interior rearview mirror assembly of the vehicle and having a forward field of view through the windshield of the vehicle. A sensor is disposed at the mirror head and determines a change in position of the mirror head relative to a mirror mount of the mirror assembly when the vehicle driver adjusts the mirror head. A control includes a processor operable to process image data captured by the forward viewing camera. Responsive to determination by the sensor of a change of position of the forward viewing camera relative to the mirror mount, the control selects an active sub-array of photosensors to provide an effective field of view of the forward viewing camera. The processor processes image data captured by the active sub-array of photosensors for a driver assistance system of the vehicle.

SYSTEMS FOR PROVIDING PROACTIVE INFOTAINMENT AT AUTONOMOUS-DRIVING VEHICLES
20170352267 · 2017-12-07 ·

A system for providing proactive service to a passenger of an autonomous vehicle during an autonomous-driving ride. The system includes a hardware-based processing unit, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage component including an input-interface module that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit, obtains input data indicating a condition related to the autonomous-driving ride. The storage component also includes an actions module that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit determines, based on the condition indicated by the input data, a proposed action; and proactively initiates dialogue with the passenger by way of a vehicle-passenger interface, the dialogue including proposing that the vehicle take the proposed action. Example actions include executing a conversation function, an educating function, an HVAC function, an autonomous-driving function, and an infotainment function. The technology in various embodiments includes any of the processes performed by the systems or devices described.

VEHICLE AND LANE CHANGE TIMING DETERMINATION METHOD

In a vehicle or a lane change timing determination method, when a distance from a vehicle to a nearby vehicle is outside of a first distance threshold value, lane changing is determined to be permitted. When the distance is within the first distance threshold value, lane changing is determined not to be permitted. After determining lane changing to be not permitted, lane changing not being permitted is switched to lane change being permitted when the nearby vehicle decelerates or accelerates to move further away from the vehicle than a second distance threshold value, even if the distance is still within the first distance threshold value.

A method of providing visual reverse steering guidance indicators on a display in a vehicle includes having an electronic control unit display on a display in the vehicle an image of an area behind the vehicle that includes a target, display a projected path track of a projected path that the vehicle will travel based on a current alignment of a steering system of the vehicle, display a visual indicator of whether the projected path matches a target path that the vehicle must travel in reverse to align the vehicle with the target, when the projected path does not match the target path, displaying a visual indicator of a direction that a steering wheel of the vehicle must be turned to align the projected path with the target path, and updating the visual guidance indicators in real time as the vehicle is driven in reverse toward the target.

Vehicular driving assist system

A vehicular driving assist system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at a vehicle and an image processor that processes captured image data. With a trailer equipped with at least one trailer camera hitched to the vehicle, a display screen displays video images derived from captured image data. The system determines a reversing path for the vehicle and trailer to follow to assist the driver in backing up the trailer, and generates a graphic overlay at the display screen that indicates the determined reversing path. During the backing up maneuver of the trailer hitched to the vehicle, and responsive to determination of an object rearward of the trailer, the system (i) determines an adjusted reversing path to avoid the object and (ii) adjusts the graphic overlay to indicate the adjusted reversing path of the vehicle and trailer for the driver to follow in backing up the trailer.

Drive assist device

Display of a drive assist by a virtual image is understandably presented to a driver. A drive assist device 1, which displays a virtual image 35 including a vehicle mark 76 on a vehicle 2 and assists driving by moving the vehicle mark 76, is configured to be provided with a relative-value converting unit 62 which converts a recommended driving operation to be shown to a driver 3 to a relative value based on a driving operation of present time; wherein the vehicle mark 76 is moved by a movement amount corresponding to the relative value to notify the driver 3 of the recommended driving operation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO ASSIST MANEUVERING OF A TRAILER BEING TOWED BY A VEHICLE

Methods and systems to assist maneuvering of a trailer being towed by a vehicle. The trailer includes a left wheel, a right wheel, an axle, a left brake device coupled to the left wheel, and a right brake device coupled to the right wheel. The methods and systems receive a driver command for a target path for the trailer, determine a left braking torque for the left wheel and a right braking torque for the right wheel based on the target path so as to provide for differential braking, and apply, via the left brake device and the right brake device, the left braking torque and the right braking torque to assist maneuvering of the trailer along the target path.
