Cleaning apparatus for sensor

A sensor-cleaning apparatus includes an upper piece, a lower piece fixed to the upper piece, a plurality of inserts inserted into the upper piece, and a plurality of nozzles. The upper piece and the lower piece form a tubular segment that is elongated along an arc of a circle and encloses a chamber. Each nozzle is formed of the upper piece and one of the inserts. Each nozzle includes a deflection surface and a tunnel from the chamber to the deflection surface, and each tunnel is partially formed of the upper piece and partially formed of the respective insert.

WIPERLESS AUTO WINDSHIELD SYSTEM FOR APPLYING AIR PRESSURE TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD
20170369038 · 2017-12-28 · ·

The present invention provides an improved system for cleaning the windshield of cars, trucks, and other vehicles without using wipers by supplying sufficient air pressure to air jets located around the windshield surface to clean it. The air pressure is supplied to the air jets from the vehicle's engine or manifold which supplies air into one or more regulated air canisters which apply sufficient air pressure to the air jets to clean the windshield. The system has an electric pump which is actuated to produce the needed air pressure to the canister. When the canister needs more air pressure, an air supply sensor and relief valve of the canister is closed off to allow the electric pump to supply additional air to fill the canister, so it can supply additional air to the air jets to clean the windshield surface without wipers.

ACOUSTO-VIBRATORY SENSOR CLEANING
20230201890 · 2023-06-29 ·

Approaches, techniques, and mechanisms are disclosed for sensor cleaning systems. A region of a sensor window is identified to be blocked by an obscurant. The location of the region is determined using the sensor associated with the sensor window. An acousto-vibratory cleaning system receives the location of the region and produces a fluid droplet to be dispensed at a specified point on a two-dimensional plane of the surface of the sensor window. Sonic actuators are activated to capture the fluid droplet in acoustic levitation. Acoustic forces guide the fluid droplet to the region being obscured. Once the fluid droplet is in cleaning position, vibration of the sensor window is activated to incrementally clear the obscurant by vibrating the droplet along the obscurant. The acousto-vibratory cleaning system generates additional acoustic forces to guide the contaminated fluid droplet to a closest drainage canal.
