A spring brake actuator assembly for actuating a brake includes a spring chamber and a service chamber. A central flange defines opposing first and second cup-shaped sections. A spring chamber housing is interconnected to the first cup-shaped section of the central flange case for defining a spring chamber. A reciprocating piston is disposed in the spring chamber and includes a tubular push rod being biased into the service chamber from the spring chamber by a power spring disposed between the spring chamber housing and the reciprocating piston. The spring chamber is sealably bifurcated into a spring portion and a brake release portion. The brake release portion is subject to pneumatic pressure for compressing the power spring disposed in the spring chamber. A service flexible diaphragm defines the service chamber that is also subject to pneumatic pressure for driving a push rod outwardly of the service chamber to actuate a brake.

Disc Brake for a Commercial Vehicle With Centering Device
20240247695 · 2024-07-25 ·

A disc brake for a commercial vehicle has a pneumatic brake cylinder, a brake disc, a brake caliper, a brake application device and brake pads. The brake caliper engages over the brake disc. The brake application device, which can be actuated by the brake cylinder, is arranged in the brake caliper, by which the brake pads can be pressed against the brake disc on both sides during braking. An extendable and retractable piston rod of the brake cylinder is in engagement with the brake application device, and the brake caliper is detachably fastened to the brake cylinder by means of a fastening device. The fastening device includes at least one screw with a screw head, a screw shank and an external thread formed on the screw shank and at least one bore with an internal thread formed in or on the brake cylinder, with an internal thread, into which the screw shank is screwed with the external thread, wherein the screw head is locked on a counter surface of the brake caliper. A centering device is designed and provided to center the pneumatic brake cylinder and the brake caliper against each other independently of the screw connection of the at least one screw with the at least one bore.

Service brake device with quick air release valve

A service brake device for vehicles is provided which permits rapid venting of a service brake pressure chamber. The service brake device includes at least one pneumatic service brake device with at least one piston and/or a diaphragm. The piston and/or diaphragm delimits the service brake pressure chamber on one side which can be supplied with compressed air from a brake line for applying the service brake and can be purged of compressed air for releasing the service brake, delimits a spring chamber on the other side which receives a spring that prestresses the piston and/or the diaphragm in the release position of the service brake. The pressure chamber includes a pressure connection communicating with the brake line. A quick air release valve between the brake line and the pressure chamber is arranged to connect the brake line to the pressure chamber when the pressure in the brake chamber is greater than in the pressure chamber, and to connect the pressure chamber to the spring chamber when the pressure in the pressure chamber is greater than the brake line pressure.

A suspension assembly for a heavy-duty vehicle axle/suspension system that includes a geometry that enables components of a brake system to be mounted above and be protected by a beam of the suspension assembly. In an embodiment of the suspension assembly, the beam includes a recessed area that allows a brake actuator to be positioned at least partially within or disposed adjacent the recessed area.

Service brake chamber manufactured with composite pressure housing and non-pressure housing and a connection method of this chamber

This invention is related to a service brake chamber manufactured with a composite pressure housing and a non-pressure housing, used in the air brake system of heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers lorries and buses and a connection method of pressure housing and non-pressure housing forms this chamber.

SELF-STEERING AXLE KNUCKLE

Self-steering axle assembly has an axle with central tube having a longitudinal central axis. A king pin is connected with an end portion of the axle. A knuckle is connected with the king pin. The knuckle includes a torque plate section. A first arm of the knuckle extends from a side of the torque plate section and receives a first end portion of the king pin. A second arm extends from the torque plate section in the same direction as the first arm. The second arm receives a second end portion of the king pin. A spindle is friction welded to the torque plate section and has a longitudinal central axis. The torque plate section has at least one surface on the torque plate section extending substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal central axis of the spindle. A tool engages the surface during friction welding of the spindle to the torque plate section. The relative locations of the axle, spindle and king pin enable an air disc brake actuator to avoid contact with components of the heavy-duty vehicle during steering and with the ground and debris.
